Hello all, I asked a friend to install a scope mount for me on my Norinco and he Played with the rear sight adjustment, is there anyway to get it back to factory screwed up, or how can I atleast get it set to 200 meters lol, I have no range to shoot at and I don't want to screw with it more.
Anyone got a measurement on how high the rear peep should be from the base and how the knobs should be? They were loose as hell, I think he tried to remove it thinking it was like the M14.ca mount, any help would be appreciated.

There are a lot of videos on YouTube. Search for M1A or M14 sight adjustment. Most folks get their zero with the rear sight elevated between 8-12 clicks from bottom.

Some of the Norinco rear sights are not well made, it's possible there is something wrong with yours.
Might as well start by stripping it down, taking a look and greasing it up.

My 22" barreled version with the tall front sight was approx 10-12 clicks up form the bottom. That is a great vid as are his others regarding the m14 platform.

I was thinking about stripping it, might have to, I got it back to original settings, alot of fidgeting lol, but a total strip would be good for it, it doesn't wanna move the windage easily, foot and bad I guess lol

If you are going to strip the sights, buy a set of used M1A or NM M1A off the EE and save yourself some time and dissapointment down the road. Get the whole assembly rear sight and replace the whole thing.
The norc front sight is fine.
Get your new sight assy in and then:
1. Set the elevation dial to bottom, Raise the aperturre 10 clicks up from bottom.
2. Fire a group at 100m and adjust windage until you are on.
3. Most norcm14 I have set up are usually hitting the dirt way low at this step and you wont even be on paper. If this is the case use a small thin file and start filing the front post down until your point of impact is bang on point of aim at 100m maintain the forward slope angle and go slowly. Verify with a 2 shot group every couple of strokes of the file.
4. Once you are bang on at 100m hold the elevation sight dial steady and unscrew the center screw. Turn the dial until the 1 on the dial lines up with the notch on the receiver.
5. Hold the sight dial steady and tighten the screw.

Most standard m14 sights will adjust 1 moa per click of elev or windage. The NM set will have a dial on the aperture for a one time use 1/2 MOA fine tune adjustment which you would use at 100m after step 4 if you really wanted to dial it in.

Basically if you are using a 150gr ish loaded projectile your sights should be calibrated more or less. Test it at 200 and 300 m with your preffered ammo you used when you went through this process. If you are using any 7.62mm bulk NATO ammo you will be bang on using the elevation dial as long as you know your target distance.

The M14 was made for irons. IMHO the best set of irons ever put on a rifle. Long sight radius, very versatile, very easy to use and adjust with basic tools.
Every scope set up I've seen or fired on them just seems clunky and impractical. I am an irons guy through and through though

My M305 shoots about 8 to 10" too high even with the rear peep sight dialed down as low as it can go. Any suggestions as to what I can to to fix this?

Super advice, thanks guys. I didn't know that taller front posts were available to buy. I'm going to look into that. My rifle is the Sodom model
; I believe it has the Naval front sight post.
