I'm Dreaming of a 10mm Bolt Action Carbine...

I've been shooting the 10mm cartridge since spring of 1988 it is by far my favorite semi-auto handgun cartridge.

I also have an 18" barrel in 10mm for my T/C Contender carbines I have been packing/shooting it for years I have recently set it up with a 2x Leupold compact scope which is the best light weight combo I have put together for it.

I've looked at the different 10mm non-restricted semi-auto rifles but none have given me the confidence that these rifles will not have reliability issues.

So lately I've been dreaming of a small bolt action 16" barreled carbine that runs Glock or 1911 mags.

Has anyone ever heard of someone building one?

Am I the only one that wants one?
 
Just Right Carbines makes a good reliable NR semi-auto. My 9mm continues to operate reliably. No issues at all. Available in 10 mm. 10 shots on tap. Fire away. :cool:

There were some lee enfields made into 45acp that take 1911 mags, i was just talking to a guy about them this morning. After i finish my 7.62x25 and 6.5x55 lee enfield projects i plan to build something in the 10 to 11.5mm size.

Im not sure if something commercially is out there. In a bolt gun. The JR carbines look good but like you said im not sure how reliable they are. But i do want one in 45 some day.
 
Certainly could be made to work in a Lee Enfield, but a needlessly long action for a short catridge. If your wanting to have it short and light, not a good starting point i would think.
 
I'm thinking of a much smaller 22 Hornet sized action.

Any bolt action rifle that weighs a lot like a Lee Enfield would not get used would sit in the safe untouched = it has to be light max 6lbs with a short bolt...
 
I think a cz527 would make a pretty nifty 10mm auto. 0.425" vs 0.447" rim diameters, single stack mags... probably wouldn't be too hard to get it to feed

Some years back Marstar floated the idea of a compact olt action rifle in .45 ACP, as I recall. It was supposed to resemble the Norinco compact .22, with a 14"-ish barrel.
I sure wanted one.
If I was thinking about building one, I'd be much more likely to try to find a 'Rinco "Bush Ranger" rather than a CZ.
 
Just saw a video of a new for 2018 17.5" barreled semi-auto Hi-Point in 10mm (yes I know we need 18.5" barrels) the reviewer was totally surprised with the carbine it functioned flawlessly for him.

Going to wait and see what the sock puppets new firearms laws are if he doesn't prohibit semi-auto's who knows maybe a cheap semi-auto 10mm will be the way to go it will definitely be less expensive than building a gun or I could just stop dreaming and be happy with my T/C Contender carbine in 10mm...

As to comments on other pistol cartridge chambered carbines I already have a Puma M92 in 45 Colt/454 Casull reason I want 10mm is I like 10mm... :)

I've tried contacting Hi Point about making NR length carbines for the Canadian market and I never got a response. Too bad, I'd buy one in 40 or 10mm in a heartbeat! They're not the prettiest, but from all reports I've seen they are reliable.

You should try contacting them though. You never know...

Kriss now makes a Vector in 10mm, that should be very reliable

Thanks for the info it is to bad the more I look into the reliability of the Hi-Point the more I see that it is ultra reliable if the cost was reasonable I'd buy a 18.6" barreled one in 10mm just to have.

Those Kriss rifles are so freaking ugly I'll pass on them.
 
No I'm still not really wanting a semi-auto but I'd consider one if it was reliable.

I have been warned off the TNW Aero due to ejection/stove piping and feeding issues especially in the 10mm chambering.
