Good side by side shotgun ?

Well - You cant go wrong with a Baikal SXS. If you get one with removable chokes and a single trigger, then you can use it for all variations of clay games. Tremendous value for the cost (~450$), and if you don't like it, or your tastes mature, the risk of financial loss is low. Alternatively, you could go with one of the older Brno's from Tradex....
For the folks that like to use the "B gun" terminology, I call these "b guns".

My 9th sxs is in the mail right now hopefully. Fit is everything. If it points where you look it should work no matter the barrel orientation
I prefer the lesser opening angle of a sxs and less wind resistance hunting ducks on the lake in bad weather. I find sxs guns to carry better and shoulder faster. Its all personal preferance
I light sxs bird gun will start to beat on you after the 4th or 5th round of trap but thats life

I believe aya still makes a trap sxs but it costs probably as much as a good used truck

The 30 inch barrel Beretta Silver Hawk 12 gauge on the equipment exchange right now is exactly what you need. Longer barrels some weight but not crazy heavy and they were made with quality materials in the 60's and maybe into the 70's. Chrome moly barrels. Greener cross bolt and under lugs. It should be hard to shoot loose. I don't like the look of the shines receivers but they are durable and corrosion resistant. I have no connection to the seller but if I didn't already have numerous SxS in all gauges I would buy it. It is priced a bit over what you want to pay so offer what you can afford. You won't find a better made gun in that price range. It is a bit long to carry through the bush but many a famous gun writer in the day would tell you long barrels are better. Most trap guns are 30 and longer.

Gents - the OP stated in his first post that he has a budget of $1K. Beretta Silver Hawk? Beretta 692?
FWIW - Most SXS's have a fairly shallow comb, which causes the gun to shoot high relative to POA. Every once and I while, I'll drag out one of my SXS's to shoot trap, and I am pleasantly surprised....

I find that the Huglu shotguns have more drop at comb than many SxS shotguns. I always shoot a few rounds of skeet with my SxS shotguns just before the bird season opens, and I have managed some clean rounds with them.

Under 1000$ - SxS - trap gun: none of those three things belong together IMO no matter how you slice or spin it.

The Browning BSS is a workhorse and durable.

Baikal has been garbage for me on every occasion.

Most trap guns are break action or slide-action, you can shoot trap with a SXS, but you should be looking for a Winchester 21 Trap. Off hand, it's the only SXS recent(in the last 40 years) trap SXS that's been made I can think of, you will need far more than $1000 to bring one home. SXS are generally made for shooting upland game, as a result they are generally built light to carry, quick to the shoulder and patterned to shoot flat. Trap guns are built heavy to absorb large volumes of recoil, stocked & set to pattern high.

CZ offers a trap version of their Sharp-Tail side by side.

For Skeet, I put thousands through a $90.00 Baikal bought new in 1978; I reworked the stock and got rid of the pistol grip, and narrowed up the big, wide for-end; cut three inches off of the end to get rid of the chokes; installed a raybar front sight, and could I ever shoot with that gun. I still have it, and it's still tight!
