BCL 102 Alternatives?

I grabbed one of the 102's in the 3rd pre-order, but with reports of unreliability and threats of upcoming semi-auto legislation, I'm rethinking my choice.

I'd love to exchange it for the Troy PAR, but I've read bad things about the quality (breaking slide release, sticky firing chamber). A big part of the reason I'm rethinking the BCL102 is that I'm looking for a gun I can go out and shoot right out of the box. I live about an hour from where I can shoot so I can't serve as BCL's field quality control staff. Plus, I don't want the libs to come take the two grand I've put out shortly after I get the gun.

Does anybody have any suggestions for alternative sporting rifle in 308?

Then gun control is working.

There's a point where you can't live your life by "what if". You could die anytime between your bed and your place of work, but you don't let that "what if" dictate if you drive to work every morning. Gun ownership of any class of firearm is one order in council away from becoming prohibited..... one. So if you think for one second that putting your money into a different class of firearm somehow makes it safe then that is an incorrect assumption. Look at the history of other Western nations, as the semi's fell soon followed lever actions, bolt actions, and pump. Buy a semi auto, join ranks and get politically active, there is political safety in large VOCAL numbers.

You have one life to live, and if you want a 102 then get one and enjoy the hell out of it.

Goodale is like a pre-pubecent joyful girl right now squealing about how the tragedy in Florida has changed some outlooks and company policies (like MEC) toward semi auto firearm ownership. He's spoken about using this current climate to push through new gun legislation, but what exactly it is, is to be determined. To my knowledge, banning semi's is gossip at this moment, although logical gossip none the less.
 
My 308 Troy PAR has been 100% reliable, not sure about all the slide releases breaking, I put a lighter spring in mine to make it easier to operate. There are replacements out there and upgraded ones out there too I guess. I absolutely love my par. That being said I have a 102 on the way, and a MacDef SLR, and a WK180 (man I hope they don’t all show up at once!), and I plan to scoop up an RDB. If they ban semis I don’t feel like I would be able to accept that so I’m either in denial or set to hold my ground either way I’m not going to let their threats influence my life yet.
 
Gah, the obsession is real. Now I want to keep my 102 and get a Ruger Precision in 308. You guys are right, no sense pussying out on a semi just because of political jibber jabber.
 
The gen 2 I received has no issues.

You’re looking at very small sample size of extremely picky/complainy people if you’re judginn by the ones on this site.

500-1K rifles out there now.. and the biggest complainers on CGN seem to be the NEA haters that don’t even have a bcl102

^^ this is painfully obvious ^^

even after some of the squackers have SOLD their early production 102's they continue to circle the various threads and throw shade any time they can.

The way I see it, with 1000+ rifles in circulation and maybe 6 guys here pissing and moaning that the machine marks on all the non-contact or not fit sensitive surfaces are clockwise and not counter-clockwise like they wanted - then rifle must be ####e.

What I've observed is that even for these squeaky wheels, SFRC is practically begging them to send the rifle or offending part back to them or BCL ASAP and it gets fixed. And what happens? 9/10 times they continue to slag instead if acknowledging that they were treated like a human, spoke to nice folks, got great service etc.

Guys expecting to buy something and won't acknowledge that this is effectively a production prototype due to production volume, time on the market and the size of the company are completely missing the mark and should stick to high volume manufacturers that can sink 100's of thousands into pre-production R&D before going to market.

When you sign up to a "Pre-buy" and want to be the first to taste the newest and greatest, you would be wholly naïve to expect that it might not work out as you fantasized.

Wave 2.0 charge handle is rough cut/sharp when cocking.

Wave 2.1 Redbull charge handle better than 2.0. The stock (the captain hook model), which some don't like. The barrel nut also has additional holes in it, presumably to lighten it a little (better than 1.0/2.0).

I have #27 off the first run. Never had an issue aside from some neck sized reloads for a 700 that wouldn't chamber. But that's a me issue not a gun issue.

My .308 PAR has also been perfect so far, only cosmetic changes here, it's a great gun.

Wrong They have been making this rifle for years...lol... NEA has a history of selling garbage.

Im super happy with mine, I was able to build the AR10 I always wanted :) and Ive seen the new NR AR15 they have and will be getting one as well and build a bada$$ NR AR :)
