I have a weatherby vanguard in 308 with the factory stock. Wanted to try another stock without the monte carlo design.

I see manufactures like Hogue make stocks that fit the vanguard/1500 action.

Has anyone tried any aftermarket stocks that they have liked and are available in Canada?

Thanks

Thanks for the info.

Those Bell and Carlson stocks look nice, looks like they just do the short action in the varmint/tactical style if you don't want the monte carlo

I have an exceptional B&C sporter on mine and it is a perfect fit. The boss was on the B&C production floor that day.

Does the B&C sporter shift how your trigger hand holds compared to weatherby stock. I find the weatherby doesn’t feel right to me in the grip area compare to my other rifles and my finger falls different. I’m strongly considering purchasing a B&C it’s too bad no where near me sells so I can’t feel the stock first

Hogue stocks won't give you much improvement on the existing Wby stock. About the same weight and not much more for rigidity. Save your money on that one. If you want an improvement, start at least with a B&C and go up from there.

That is were I was getting a bit confused not sure if I was looking at it wrong but seems that the B&C after market stocks for the short action (I have 308 win) is for heavy contour barrels they are more like a varmint/tactical set up. Seems like the sporter model is for long actions.

I am looking for something without the monte carlo design and prefer synthetic or composite stock.

Is there any other makes in Canada apart for the Hogue or B&C?
