Help Me Write An Article About The AR-15. It's Uses And The Fruitlessness Of A Ban

To be honest here, you better off writting a detail article about Canadian law, our licensing system and the Canadian Firearms Program comparing with the U.S.
Describing how light and simple an AR is for women and children to use will actually have the opposite reaction you are hoping for, sheddng a light on the classification of AR against other semi autos you are just giving them further incentives to push for a complete ban on all semi autos.

I'll probably be writing that at another date. The laws in the states can be even more convoluted to understand because it varies by state. As the AR-15 is under fire at the moment I think this is a good place to start.

I agree, be very careful comparing it to other similar rifles that are non restricted. You may unintentionally throw the rest under the bus. If they already have it in their head that the AR is evil and you say it's the same as these other rifles that are non restricted then they may just ask themselves why aren't those rifles restricted and maybe they should be moved to prohib as well.
Remember, you are dealing with Lieberal minded waterheads, they don't think like we do. There is no rational thought or common sense in their brain.

I see your point but I am considering the fact that Heidi Rathjen has already been pushing for a ban on all "military style firearms" through the Coalition For Gun Control etc... They already don't like these guns in civilian hands and so I feel like the best way to point out that the AR-15 and all of them are fine for legal gun owners is that most of them are in fact non-restricted and yet few to no crimes are committed with them. Obviously she and that organization has been ignoring the fact that gun owners aren't the problem for years but... I feel like stating the facts even if they may be alarming to some is better than those who don't know finding out on their own. Esepecially since they are using something that happened in another country to renew the debate here. Ie: Yes we have these guns in Canada and yes we can own them and we do so peacefully in the practice of our recreational hobbies and our pursuit of hunting for our own food. What happened in the U.S.A doesn't happen here." Know what I mean? Thoughts?

Be careful in what you bring up about alternate calibers.
In europe, many governments have taken the step of saying that the rifles are ok, but the military calibers like .223 are not.
As a result, a lot of rifles come only in the ammo choices that are less frequent or more expensive. eg: italian ARs in .222 or french SG542s in 243.

I don't intend to be giving off that message with this article as I hope to clearly represent the fact that there are many arguably "better" calibers than 5.56x45 for the AR suitable for hunting and target shooting. I think it would be very difficult to ban a caliber here because that would be applied to all firearms would it not? Bolt-action or otherwise. I'm just hoping to represent the facts, as plain and non-scary as they are.

I would also focus on the shooting sports where speed, accuracy, concern for safety come into play.

And instruction for new shooters and shooters of smaller stature, the rifle/caliber is forgiving.

Maybe include it's flexible configuration is also "all inclusive" for a variety of shooting sports.

190$? wow

Be careful with using older ads for items, after all, we also had these:

Some people WILL compare them, even if it's not a correct comparison!

Although an awesome ad, I wouldn't use them.

In my opinion the fact that this was marketed and sold as a rifle for hunters, campers, and collectors (civilians) and also the add being old it shows that this is not in fact a new "scary" design by any standards. I think making these points clear to anti-gunners or uninformed people outweighs the possibility of comparing gun adds to another questionable add from that time. But I'll see as everything progresses.

Side note, I played with those Javelin Darts a few times at my uncles place some years ago, didn't realise they were so old!

Yeah, I played with them also.. I also remember very clearly that at some point we were throwing them over the (single story) house... rofl.

Way too long. Way too technical. In sales, we call this approach show up, and throw up, and it doesn’t work.

In my opinion, the only people that will actually read any of that will be other enthusiasts. There is zero likelihood of any anti-firearm audience reading it. Why? Quite simply, they don’t need to know any of it in order to support their position, and moreover they don’t care about your argument or perspective, and will never, ever, care - not even a little bit.
