I've got like 15,000 of various CCI .22LR rounds that I've got to move to Prince Rupert from Vancouver.

I was going to put it up for sale, but realized, rather than take a hit in selling it...perhaps the losses would cover the shipping to the new place.

anyone got advice on where I can look for quotes to get it shipped?

15000 rounds would likely fit in a pair of rubbermaids, put it in the vehicle of the friend who is driving your to destination X or put it in your moving truck and go for the ride with them.

I have bought many times from them, this appears to be something new they are doing as it was shipped differently before

Odd - CP has always said they will not ship Dangerous Goods. Wonder how the vendor is getting around it.

moving company is transporting our stuff up while the wife and I will fly up, being neither of us drive.

ammo is a 'prohibited' item for movers...so selling or shipping are my only options. as said, rather then sell at a loss, perhaps paying the same will get it there.

i estimated 100lbs for my shipment and Canpar quoted me $135...but that's without hazard fee, etc, so I guess I will give em a shout for an estimate and go from there. :p

I hate to say it but they don't have to know what they are transporting do they ?? as in the moving company . put it in metal ammo boxes then in heavy duty card board boxes then tape the crap out of the boxes with duct tape and use a few boxes so they aren't too heavy and write fragile on the boxes. make sure all corners that may rip are taped extra strong due to you not wanting any thing to protrude out during the shipment. did they state in their contract no ammo or did you ask ? if you asked you let the cat out of the bag. good luck to you .

Yes they do have a legal requirement to know what is being shipped.
The company can be stopped anywhere along the route for a routine inspection.

You could try one of those services that college kids use kinda like hitching a ride but you only pay a certain amount to ride along .( sos taxi ?) I have done it once for one of my sister students . Find some one from your area thats going where you need and just have them haul it for ya ,( you paying the fee and may be a lunch ) people do it for pets !

New??? and stupid. There is nothing new other than they are not declaring what they are shipping and someday when canada post stops shipping all firearm related items since some cannot follow rules we can remember cases like this that cause it
Cheers

It might not be the seller shipping it by CP but the other service such as canpar handing it off to CP for rural delivery. They do that all the time around here. Ive never order ammo online though.
