I know a few sheep farmers and may be able to get a lot of pure lanolin that works great for case sizing.
looking if there is an interest in me selling some.
lanolin can be purchased in paste or liquid form. anhydrous lanolin is used for sizing.(diluted) paste is too thick. anhydrous lanolin is good for leather as well.
One of the sheep farmers told me they have a room full of wool, about 100cf.
it's no good for clothes as the curl is wrong, but great for felt making so I was told.
I'm not even sure how much lanolin that would produce atm.
I do a lot of reloading, basically this is what I do with the Lee Case Lube, works wonders.
I believe the Lee Case Lube is near 100% Lanolin, it doesn't need to be liquid, it will disolve in the alcohol anyway.
If I feel it is going to be worth it, all you need to do is boil the wool to release the Lanolin to the top of the water and collect it, the by product is the wool itself.
The wool then can be processed into felt and used for other applications.
I BP shoot, make my own wonderwads and all brass 12G BP shells, the felt would be used in both or could also be sold off to others.
