Hi guys. I have never put a barrel on a bolt action rifle and I want to buy a bighorn tl3 and put on a profit barrel with a barre nut. What do I all need? I’m not stupid when it comes to assembling things. I guess I’ll need to buy a vise and some soft jaws hey? What else?

Action wrench, nut wrench, barrel vice, a go headspace gauge for the cartridge the barrel is chambered for, an action, a chambered barrel that is threaded for the action and nut, and a nut.

What a waste of money... simply have a smith fit a good barrel to your action. Nuts are of no advantage.

Not at all, if ones planning future swaps they pay for themselves quickly and allow you to do it with minimal cost and wait. My wrenches, vice, gauges cost less than it did to send it off and have it done previously, never mind the waiting.

I prefer the look of no barrel nut but I want avoid wait times and I also like the idea of being able to put it together myself. If I order a stock I guess I need somebody to open the barrel channel for the barrel nut to fit eh?

How can a nut and nut wrench can pay for themself when all you need is headspaced barrel and just spin in place.
