Eagle International 30 round 597 Mags Revisted

im still waiting for mine.
looks like i won't be getting mine till next week.
but chances are , knowing my luck, my package is going to get stuck at customs and im gonna have to do the whole rimfire explanation thing.

I just ordered my hammer, extractor and mag as well. Hopefully I'll have everything up and running by next weekend.

Hopefully the new extractor fixes my FTE issues, otherwise 30 rounds aren't going to be as fun as they should be...

Got my 30round magazine today! (feels good to say it:cool: ). Wow I ordered it like Friday midnight and it’s already here; :dancingbanana:that’s REALLY fast considering US guys had the Monday off.... Now just have to try it out, if it will be will be 100% I’ll get a few more.

Now that I have a 2.5-10x42 scope and a 30 round mag for my 597 now I just need a bipod. :)
Whoa... I ordered mine Thursday morning and I'm still waiting! :(
Hey... wait a minute... did you use a ###y phone voice as well?!? :D

Hmmm I've never had a single FTE...

btw what's the difference between old and new eagle design magazine?

The old ones had a crappy round angle that caused the 11th through 30 rounds to nosedive and hit the front of the magazine. The new mags have the same feed angle for all rounds and function flawlessly.

pfft. I get a FTE every 30 rounds or so. I'm using dry lube, I losenes my guide rod screws, I cleaned all the factory gunk out of it. I clean it everytime I shoot it. I have 2 3rd Gen magazines (and the FTE occue with both) I have no idea why the damned thing doesn't want to work right.

FTE = Failure To Extract; is that what you mean or are you talking about feeding issies (FTF)?

I've only shot maybe 750+ rounds thu my 597 but honestly never had a single extraction issue. :) I've had some feeding problems (caused by a dirty magazine/gun) last couple of trips to the range but I didin't take the gun apart and cleaned it properly since I got it new. I did clean it recently and will take it out to the range tomorrow and see if I'll get any FTF problems again...will also test the 30 rounder

Still waiting:( ... and now it seems they've shut down for a week. If mine aren't already in transit, it'll be another week... I hate waiting

Got my 4 30 round mags today (so now I have 6 of them), all the new style with the proper feed angle. So now I will not feel undergunned when plinking gophers with my buddy and his 10/22 with his 5 butler creek 25 rounders... I now have him by 5 rounds per mag so his days of gloating are over! Insert evil laugh here.

FTE's. The empty casing gets stuck in the chamber instead of being ejected clear.
I've got about 1500 rounds through mine thus far. Didn't really start having problems until about 750-800 rounds. I've only had 1 failure to feed.
My problems all seem to stem from the extractor not kicking the casing out, so hopefully the new one will do a better job. Hopefully my magazine, extractor and hammer will be here today. :D
I'll have to do a little sanding to get my barrel free floating properly when I put the new hammer in.

got my mags on thursday
upon testing of the mags,
i noticed the mags are extremley tight in the mag well.
and also when the mags seem to not let the bolt hold open lever to release.
i have to tap the reciver to get it to release.
any body else have these types of problems?

I can't relate to aftermarket 597 mags but I do know with replacement Win 77 mags you have to file & sandpaper some of the edges so they go in smoothly. It would seem that your new mags are a tad too tight so some trimming & fitting may be needed, especially sharp edges.

Take a bit of sandpaper and lightly sand the flashing on the mags, this should help with the tightness. As they get used they will allow the bolt to close on a full mag.

I ordered mine through Rimfire Sports May 24th in the a.m.
I e-mailed them to see what is the hold up. Responded this morning that they are on back-order from Eagle, and should have more in by Monday (June 18th :( ), if they are on schedule.
I got my credit card statement for the month of May yesterday... I noticed they had no issues billing me right away!

Holy cluster flock. I sent my original mags back to Eagle International March 22. A couple of weeks back I called and asked "Where is the newer version replacement mags?" I was told they must have been sent cuz they ship them as soon as they get them, says I "well it's been 2 months and no mags". Buddy says let me look into it and I'll call you back.

He calls back the next day to say the box "fell behind something and was overlooked" but they will ship them now. I reiterated not to send them UPS as they charge crazy brokerage fee's and I do not support that, I want these to go out USPS.

Well, the UPS driver shows up today with a COD charge of $25.13, this on top of the $32 brokerage they charged me on the original order! That total is what I paid for the 2 mags! 100% taxation for brokerage! So the driver says I have to take them away on a disputed order as it is a COD order, but call our 1-800 number to deal with it. :bangHead:

I called UPS and tore them a new one about how I will never ship UPS again, and how could they charge this on a return item. I also explained how USPS/Canada Post charges "reasonable" amounts like $5 or $6, not this carp they are charging. She finally says she will reverse the charge "this one time only" as a good faith jesture.

Well, I personally will not deal with MB ever again, and screw UPS, I will avoid them and warn others to do the same!!! AVOID UPS AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

This is probably 'apples to oranges', but I've never had a FTE with my 597WMR. In fact - if anything - it probably ejects each casing with too much gusto ...the darn things always fly 2 to 3 positions to my right on the firing line. This has been the case with the factory Remington extractor, as well as the VQ extractor that I upgraded to (shooting CCI 40gr Maxi-Mag).

I agree, UPS brokerage fees can often be highway robbery. There are other less expensive options that offer package tracking when shipping an order from the U.S. (USPS has several) ...the challenge is sometimes getting the vendor you're doing business with to use them.

I've got a package waiting for me at the post office from Rimfire Sports (finally).
Hopefully my mag is in there...
I think I hate you! ;)
When did you order them? I've been waiting since the 24th of May! :(
As an aside, I'm going to ask a machinist who does work for me about making the muzzle break. :D
