So, Canada Post asked what I was shipping today!!!

They only need to know if it is a dangerous good! Firearms are not dangerous goods!
Next time, tell them it is another order of dildos, sales are great, then ask if they would like to sample!

They ask if it’s dangerous goods.

Any other questions asking for specifics should be replied in a loud voice to like this:

“It’s an extra large anal intruder ### toy, slightly used”

Shipped out some stuff a couple months ago and was asked what the contents of the package was. I can understand for international shipping for the declaration but local? WTF?!

Wow. I’ve never been asked. Nor have I seen any policies or binding instruments that compel someone to disclose the content of their package unless it falls under specific predefined categories. I’ll have to take a closer look. I know they can open packages though.

they ask me all the time but I do not answer. The guy started to ask me if the this thing is unloaded and chamber is empty LOL.

They can ask. As long as it is allowed to be shipped, you don't need to tell them. "Stainless steel machine tools" is a good one.

Someone had a thread. Everyone thinks were rednecks, what does everyone do for a living. So Doctors, lawyers, engineers....then one guy said " I make injection molded silicone products for the adult entertainment industry" Still owes me a new keyboard.

Anyways. It's there job, don't take it personally, be polite. Use this thread to come up with a minimal answer. Basically, always tell the truth, but never volunteer negative information.

I work for Canada post, they should NOT be asking you the contents of the package, and instead only to declare that there are no illegal or dangerous goods in the package (Such as live ammo, etc). it was always something we had to check off manually anyways, now it just forces the prompt onto the customer and opens the conversation, not everyone is going to approach it properly.

This was the first time they have asked and I have shipped a lot over the years. I was being a smartass, I told the lady after it was only clothing and I was just teasing but she look like she wanted to kick me in the nuts.

They want to know if it's something that could explode or start a fire on a plane. Lithium polymer batteries for instance are now pretty common and volitile. Just say it's a tool or sport equipment. If you don't want to be asked, prepare your shipment online.

I wonder if the difference between getting asked this question is Xpresspost (air) vs Regular or Expedited?

Never been asked. As a matter of fact, most of them look like they're going out of their way not to ask and are holding back their curiosity. If ever I was asked, I'd say it's an airplane crankshaft.

I have dealt with this clerk for quite some time now, a couple of years at least They all recognize me when I come in. To have the question sprung today kind of took me back.

Sporting goods it is from now on... nudge...nudge...wink.. wink.

Said it was a new policy. They have to question the contents.

She got a rather puzzled/alarmed look on her face when I told her it was a mold LOL.

Be dam'd if I going to tell them I'm shipping firearms. That's just begging to have it opened for inspection.

Anyone else encounter this yet?

Last 2 days I shipped out 3 rifles and 1 pistol. They were air guns. Never was asked once.
