not good for M&P15, found this advisory on Wolf's site, no kidding

*** Advisory Warning - June 8, 2017 ***
WOLF Performance Ammunition has received notifications relating to Smith & Wesson M&P-15 rifles that are discharging out of battery which is evidenced by a lack of damage to the chamber and barrel extension. This shows that the rifle’s bolt did not lock into the barrel, yet the hammer was still able to strike the firing pin to detonate the cartridge and cause a failure.
These failures can cause major damage to the firearm and bodily injury. As a result, WOLF Ammunition does NOT recommend using our ammunition with any Smith and Wesson M&P-15 rifles until this issue is resolved. Moving forward, WOLF’s 100% Performance Guarantee will not cover any damages associated with Smith & Wesson M&P 15 rifle or rifle created failures exhibiting the above described characteristics.

Ah crap eh, I remember reading that a little while ago now. Strange that it's just with the M&P15s.

Decent. Might be my new go to since Tula has been sold out for a year.

I think it'll probably be the only option for the foreseeable future since we can't get anything shipped from Russia anymore, Tula or Barnaul. At $180/500 or even at the regular price of $198/500 I'm not complaining. I hope some dealers start stocking Wolf's 6.5 Grendel and 5.45x39 as well.

But I've never heard of another type of AR having this issue with this ammo

But is there an actual problem, or just one incident...why would one manufactures rifle have a problem with one manufactures ammo?

It is most likely the ammo, not suggesting it's a problem just that by the description it has to be the ammo...and I would assume it pretty much always is with this type of bolt design. The warning stated that there was no damage to the barrel extension, or chamber, but by the design of the rifle it's pretty unlikely that it could fire out of battery. If it did it couldn't happen until the round was well in the chamber, pretty much locked. The only way I could see this taking place as the warning inferred is if the firing pin was broken and protruding from the bolt face, something that could happen to any AR-15 though extremely unlikely. I'd be willing to bet that this "warning" is just a way to deflect blame.

Thanks for the heads up, haven't used it before but glad to get some cheap 556 in the stockpile. We'll see how the Tavor and upcoming WK-180 like it.

make sure you scrub the chambers after you use it, while the gun's still hot. There's a layer of polymer or lacquer (depending on the type of Wolf) that can build up in the chamber and cause some problems with extraction. It's as simple as brushing it for 5 seconds, but something I'd recommend you do to prevent any problems. Once that lacquer hardens it's dang near impossible to get out until its heated again.
