.264 bullet mold for the .260 Rem

I’m looking for a mold to cast bullets for my girls to practice with their .260 Rem. I’m looking for a lighter bullet to reduce recoil. I found this NOE mold that’s designed specifically for the 6.5 Grendel. Any reason it wouldn’t work in a .260 Rem. The dimensions look fine to me. Am I overlooking something?

I never tried cast bullets in 260 but my daughter and I both use that caliber since she was 14 years old and about 80 pounds. I just bought a ton of Nosler 120gr. ballistic tips and loaded them light. Be sure to use ear muffs as muzzle blast makes recoil seem worse, as does leaning into the gun when shooting off a bench.

I’m already set up for casting so I figured that for the price of a couple boxes of jacketed bullets I could get a mold and have some fun.

I see no reason why that mould wouldn't work for you. I shoot cast in my 30-06's and 30wcf for plinking.

That should work great in a .260 with reduced velocity. If it doesn't shoot well, NOE molds hold their value very well for resale.

I expect that mold should work OK as long as OAL when loaded fits your magazine.

6.5x: 50Jap, 52 Carcano, 55 Swede(96 and Krag) like the lyman#266469.

I use a mold from Cast bullet engineering in Australia, 267132, very similar to NOE 268134, a Loverin type design with grease grooves all the way to the nose. This bullet in my 6.5 x 55 shoots as well as my jacketed hunting ammunition. I use it at turkey shoots. It is head and shoulders ahead of my three more conventional looking molds.

what size of sizing die do you use. I would like to cast for my 260.

My lee sizer is .266. My load is 23gr of 414 slow lot from Higginson some years ago in my '96 Mauser 6.5 x 55. It is supposed to be a near equivalent to H414. Not a hot load by any means, but my rifle really likes it. I hand lube with Canadian Tire Moly Grease.

Thanks for reply. So what mold would u recommend for 260 rem. tikka? Is a lyman 266469 actually .266 ? is the noe 268134 actually .268?

Here’s a lightweight one. Not a gas check mold though so only for lower velocity. What’s the purpose of a boat tail on a cast bullet?
