Hi all,

Looking for some information on the front sight adjustment tool (officially the #3 cramp, according to what I've read) for the No.4 Mk.1. Hoping to either obtain one or some reference (drawing, perhaps) on its dimensions etc.

Have read multiple forums and articles on the subject, some recommend just whacking at the blade sight with a brass drift. Hoping for a bit more of a precise method. I know the original tool has a ratio of turns/mils, and to be honest I'm just starting to learn how to sight-in something like this, so any guidance is appreciated. If anyone knows where I could get my hands on the tool for a reasonable price, even better.

Thank you!

I bought one similar to this. It works well

I have the Lee Enfield version of this and like I said it works well

Can't find the one I have but good luck.

When you do find one just make sure you take off the tool shoot, adjust, remove tool, adjust and so on until you get it right.

If you are talking elevation you have to get a taller front sight post which can be difficult to track down.

Thanks,
I have seen the first one you shared, unfortunately they don't ship to Canada, but I will keep my eyes peeled on eBay for the one similar to that Mosin one.

I understand there is a kit of various height blades, but I think at this point it's just the windage that needs some fine tuning.

Thanks again

I have never heard of a kit. I would be all over that if there was such thing. I have a taller front sight but I think I am going to put the original one back in. The new one is loose and slides around for some reason

There are several ways to snug up a loose front sight. A thin shim under the sight often works. You could also put a little solder on the bottom of the sight and then dress it off until you get a satisfactory fit. A shim above one of the sight dovetail faces between the sight and the base is another method. There are more drastic remedies, but one of those will probably get you fixed up.

D.S. Solutions Militaria has a 9 piece #4 foresight blade kit available.

I hope that I didn't step on any toes here. If I have, I apologize.

first off, does it have the screw in the front you unlock before you drift it ? I actually have the correct armourers tool for tht backwards slot screw Longbranch are the only ones that use that I think but not sure

To loosen the locking screw, I made a tool from an old screwdriver. I cut off the blade section and cut a groove in the end with my Dremel. I also made a tool from a small C-clamp to adjust the front site. Take the swivel pad off the clamp and you have cheap site adjuster that works just fine.

Yeah, has the locking screw, I've made a tool to deal with that as well. As far as knocking it into position with a drift, have done so as well, at home on a work bench. Don't know what the RO's at the range would have to say about me bringing out a hammer and drift for fine adjustment.
