So got some bags of fired 7.62X39 range brass from Western Metals. I was decapping them and inspecting them I found a few of them had some odd neck shape. What would cause this to form like that when fired and would these be able to be resized and reused. I was going to toss them but was curious and figured I would inquire of the gurus here. They are all Fiocchi brass not that I think the brand has anything to contribute to this.

It is customary for designers to overcome weak extraction forces in a self-loading firearm by relieving the chamber. SVTs have flutes. There is a French light machine gun with flutes too. But a belled neck isn't one I'd expect.

Yeah I will be running them through my wet tumbler to clean the primer pockets and clean them a little better and I will resize and see how it turns out and post the results.

Don't be shy with the lube, and in my opinion; you should be good to go.

Actually, less lube is better than more.
To much lube left on the brass at the full length re-size (if you full length re-size) it can and will prevent the air from escaping the vent hole in the die.
Looks to me there are some ejection marks.
Try to re-size and fire-form to repair the dent.
Just adding another opinion to the mix.

I am fairly new to reloading. Never fireformed before. Can't you just reload the casing after sizing and the dent will come out? What method should be used for fire forming these to remove dents?

I think you should refer the questions to Western Metals and ask them what you have.
I didn’t look/read your original question thoroughly .
You may have some mixed brass or metal cases mixed in with what you thought may be 7. something or other.

Now, not being a smart azz, but you mentioned your new to reloading, I will suggest you watch a bunch of you tube on reloading .
And watch them some more.
Then read your manuals and set up your kit as per the instructions and give it a whirl.
If you follow the instructions in the book and you tube demos, you will be able to reload.
Just start out at the bottom of the recommended loads and work your way up.
That’s as far as further suggestions or offering of tips I will go.
Tight Groups,
Rob

They are all stamped Fiocchi 7.62X39 on case head. There are a ton of them in that mix that are the Fiocchi brass but look like normal fired 7.62X39 casings. There was just 5-7 like this in the 5 bags I got.

Were they de primed when you got them? Maybe they were partially resized in a machine that was maybe out of alignment.
