I may have the opportunity to take on a no.1 project. I’m looking for the value of an action that is missing some parts, biggest one being the hammer, and brownells listing it as discontinued. There is no extractor/ejector and there is no hammer strut and spring. There is a bbl (threaded into receiver loosely) but it is not machined at the rear to accept an extractor. Laminated stocks are in good shape.

So, what would you experts value this project at? $$$

Thanks,

Check Numrich, they have a schematic and parts list... most should be "in stock." The shipping is not cheap on small parts orders though.

I wouldn't give over $250.

The extractor is cheap and easy but don't forget you will need the spring and plunger that go with it aswell. Hammers I believe Ruger won't sell without them installing it but there was at least one aftermarket company making hammers so finding a factory take off or the aftermarket part should be found. The aftermarket hammers were about $50US if I remember right. The hammer spring can be a factory spring or Wolff also makes them for the #1. The strut I'm not sure about.

I would look at the mentioned schematic, record the parts you need then call snapshots and see what the avilable parts will cost.

You mention the stock being laminate - so is the action stainless?

In that case I wouldn't add any value for the stock or barrel. I would decide what the action is worth complete then subtract what the parts are going to cost you. Often these things are appealing but can turn into money pits quick.... At least that's my experience buying fixer uppers.
