AR pistols?

Restricted. You can still find them available on gun-shop.ca. But I ended up just building one myself. They're one of the loudest firearms you'll own but even for me it's a toy (expensive toy) since it's not made for accuracy (past 25yds). Just get one :)

Ouch! Restricted and soon to be designated into the new Liberal 12(9) class. The Liberal sinister plan is to move all AR rifles into the new 12(9) class, prohibit all new AR importations, parts, uppers & lowers. 12(9) AR owners will have the same UNCONSTUTIONAL rights as 12(6) owners. Mark my words.....

they are fun!

unless i had it reclassified as a pistol.....

What?

I though it can't be reclassified as a pistol if it's already a rifle, and vice versa. Once a pistol, always a pistol. Once a rifle, always a rifle... (??)

My RRA LAR-PDS lower is registered as a pistol. Every other AR15 lower receiver i have are 'rifles'.

Putting a stock on a pistol doesn't make it a rifle, unlike in the USA where pistol stocks are "braces"... lol

havnt done it myself.
have heard rumblings of people who had.....
have been meaning to call and talk to them about it myself though.

just for novelty basis.
not like there is any difference between restricted pistol and restricted rifle other then just the name.

To the best of my knowledge only the manufacturer or original importer of the lower can register a lower as a pistol and once a pistol, always a pistol.
Putting a short barrel and removing the butt stock on a lower that was registered as a carbine/rifle does not change the original FRT# or registration certificate.

It is stupid as the lowers are in no way different, but in Canada gun laws do not make any sense to begin with.

I'd be VERY curious as well for these "rumblings"... Is it all-talk and no proof? I think it is.

My LAR PDS certificate does says "handgun" in the "Type" field...even if the lower is exactly the same as a "rifle" AR15 lower.

well i loose nothing by trying so ill get off my butt and give the CFO a call on Monday and see if i can change mine over.
im kinda interested now to see.
i have to call them anyways as my receiver was a stripped and i have to let them know the barrel length i put on it for the certificate anyways, ill play dumb and ask if i can change it over to a pistol since its a short barrel.
hell, my Ruger Charger has a longer barrel!

i shall be the test pilot on this one!

Good luck! Let us know what happens.

My LAR PDS pistol has a 9" barrel, and I have a .300AAC 7.5" barrel for a 'rifle'.. doesnt make sense!
