Hello

First Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this is.

I have a general shotgun question. IF I had a pump action shot gun with 18.5" barrel and it was bought with just a PAL.

Could I legally remove the butt stock and install retractable butt stock with shock absorbing pad and a pistol grip in one to the shotgun and would it then be still classified as a PAL or would you have to have it legally reclassified under RPAL?

Thanks for your help / information
George

Hi
Thanks for your replies. Is that OAL measured from the barrel solid tip with NO screwed on attachment to the pistol grip or at the Butt stock face?
Thanks for your help.
George
P.S Not intended for hunting at all some trap/target style shooting.

I would play it safe and measure the barrel and not any muzzle devices unless they were pinned on. If they are easily removable it probably isn't best to use their length.

Muzzle device dont count in OAL. Tip of the barrel to end of the stock is the way to measure.

To give you an idea, a Rem 870 with a pistol grip and 18.5 barrel is more than 26" OAL
