GSG 1911 .22 conversion unit

I have one, It did work on my Norinco NP-29 but I needed to replace the factory main spring with a wolff 19lbs reduced mainspring. I don't know if the original norinco was a 23 lbs.

I currently use it on my stock Remington R1 with no problem. No FTF or FTE with all the cheap ammo I shoot.

General consensus is to just buy the whole gsg pistol as they work better then the conversion kits.

"General consensus" translates to: "... everyone knows ...."? Obviously one guy is happy with his.

I have a GSG 1911 and it is pretty reliable with snappy ammo but has a heavy trigger pull. It's just that I have a .45 1911 with a sweet trigger pull which I thought would be fun to shoot as a .22.

Where did you buy your unit and how much was it?

Obviously there will be happy with theirs but there's reason most people just end up with a whole gsg. I tried the conversion and didn't have much luck so ended buying the fill pistol. If your looking to keep the frame of your other 1911 then yeah defiantly give the conversion a try.

Yes, awesome idea to have a .22lr top-end to use on your already smooth shootin' lower. If the original question was should one get the full GSG 1911 .22lr pistol or only the conversion unit, if one didn't already have a dedicated 1911 in .22lr then maybe the conversion unit would be the way to go, as a second. I'm in the camp of owning the full pistol. In fact I liked my first one so much, I bought a second...lol...

Will the GSG .22 mags from my GSG 1911 work?

GSG 1911 .22lr mags will work in both. Interestingly enough, they also work flawlessly in my vintage Colt .22lr conversion unit & also a recently acquired Ceiner 'Platinum Cup' .22lr conversion unit!

I was at the range today with a few guns, one of them my GSG 1911. It only works well and shoots accurately with CCI Mini Mag ammo. I've got one of those flip up targets that resets when you hit the centre swinger. Duck soup with the GSG, but only if I use the CCI ammo. Feeding is not 100% even with the CCI ammo.

What is missing is a good trigger pull and the weight of a steel 1911 frame. The trigger pull on my GSG breaks clean but on the heavy side, which is easily overcome with some concentration. Maybe that's a good thing ....
