Hi all!

Just wanted to extend an invitation to all my Canadian friends to come down next year for the 2019 IPSC Australian Handgun Championships.

The match will be held at Blacktown Pistol Club in the outer suburbs of Sydney from the 4th - 10th of March.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any assistance whatsoever - stats770@yahoo.com.au or find me on Facebook.

More information, including requirements for importation (and exportation) of firearms to Australia will be posted on the soon.

I would love to see a bunch of you guys come on down for the match!

Cheers

Damn, definitely a bucket list trip! I've always wanted to visit Australia and have a few friends who keep asking me to come. This is a good excuse to make that happen but I'll have to do the math and vaca status. I'm already planning a big bucket list trip for 2020. :p

Does that happen to include Thailand?

I thought handguns were banned in Oz, obviously not. What are the laws? What would be involved in bringing a handgun into Oz to compete?

lol, I almost spit my coffee out my nose because I know someone who did that and started laughing! A buddy is planning a live aboard dive trip to Chuuk Lagoon. :)

Ahaha, yeah, uhmmm that's what I meant. :p Ha, damn it, now you know where my mind was. lol

PS: Sorry to have digressed... back to topic. :)

Haha i was definitely referring to World Shoot but hey take that one whatever way you want :dancingbanana:

Check online - you need a Category H license. It's quite an interesting read to see how other countries handle gun control.

Huge public misconception that Australia allows no firearms.

Hi mate,

handguns are certainly NOT banned, however we do have a number of restrictions

9mm/.38Super & .357Sig are our restricted calibres for IPSC. .45 calibre handguns are permitted only for Metallic Silhouette match and .45ACP in a couple of states. No .40SW for IPSC

We are also restricted to 10 round capacity magazines.

No semi-auto rifles or shotguns, no pump action shotguns, however there are no calibre restrictions for rifles

Cheers

Thanks for clarifying Jimbo. Nice to know that things down there aren’t quite as bad as they seem from a distance. I guess that the major government gun grabs were aimed at long guns rather than handguns. Are lever action long guns still ok?
