Colt Expanse M4 or Bushmaster QRC ??

In honour of Wanstall's ad in Calibre (wishing for mainstream) ad, I'm going to purchase an AR from them. As the title states, would one go Colt or Shrubmaster? The wife said the S&W Sport II but she is thinking that I've blown enough $$ in the last bit to protest C-71/75......

I need to stay to the price point of aroundish 1K as I have a few projects on the go. Thinks for any and all input!

Listen to your beautiful wife M&P sport II, for 1K you are just buying the Colt name, nothing on the bargain Colt is actually made in a Colt facility.
 
I wouldn't take a bushmaster for free.

EDIT: I take back what I said about the expanse being a Colt, the Colt expanse is not at all up to Colt quality (i;e: it's crap) and not at all a Colt, and the company that made them for Colt went out of business in 2017 because Colt breached their contract with them, essentially putting them in a position where they could not pay for the extra tooling/employees they acquired to complete the contract.
There was a lawsuit and it's a complicated ordeal, Colt ####ed up, essentially. They put their logo on a crap rifle and it didn't sell because they bid on a Hillary win to make it sell.

Nope, out of the 3 choices M&P is priced closest to the quality you are getting and for that price you are not buying quality.
 
Do you guys have Stag arms in Canada? Their basic model has the best specs in the lower range for sure.
 
I got a BM because I got a great deal on it and it is nice and clean (tight fit and well staked), but I was also a little worried before I got my hands on it since QC seems to be all over the place on em.

They must of sold hundreds if not thousands of MP15, there are countless posts and reviews attesting to the general great quality versus price and 1 utterly intense problem which will obviously be taken care of. I would go for that one too.
 
I've put about 400 rounds through my Bushmaster QRC without any issue whatsoever.

Fit and finish is about what I expect from a $995 AR. I don't think the OP could go wrong if he chose one - as far as the M&P Sport II check the thread out on the serious problem a couple of people have had with them (the uppers are way, way out of spec - so much so that one can see a LOT of daylight where the rear of the upper fits to the lower receiver extension).

The S&W thread is a little disconcerting, if I raided my spring bear hunting fund a little I could do the Colt LE6920. Is that a proper step up in regards to AR fit and function? I’m sure they can bring anything in, what would you all purchase at the $1350 price point?

That price shall be the end of my mission creep tho..... ;)

I wouldn't worry about the M&P, as far as I see this is a very limited issue. There are literally thousands out there and no problem. I have one and it is as functional and accurate as my 6920. YMMV Just sayin :)

Nothing against you, but people who decide if an AR15 manufacturer produce reliable AR's are the kind of people who go to the firing line and shoot 400 rounds before lunch. American instructors litterally see tens of thousand of rounds go through various guns in a day, every day. They see guns fail and break every single day, a good number of manufacturers are always on that list of failures, and Bushmaster is one of those. A number of manufacturers are never on that list. Since the assault weapons ban was lifted in 2004, a metric #### ton of experience has been amassed in the U.S. about the AR15, and it's been growing constantly.

Fit and finish tell nothing about the quality of a rifle.

If I remember correctly, ATF numbers of 2016 put Smith & Wesson at the top of AR rifle manufacturers, right around 300 000 AR's produce in a year.

Fun thing is people Who decides what manufacturer suck often do it because they saw a couple of bad review. When I did research before going for the deal I found on a Bushy I searched a lot, most negative was people simply saying they wouldnt touch it with nothing to back the claim and then some real actual fact.

But considering they're probably the best mass selling ar in the US it is bound to have issues, simple stats...

In all honesty, it is true it is a fact BM took a dive the wrong side when they got bought, but it certainly isn't #### and most civilians who own ars wont be shooting more than a few thousands a year and never need it un a life treatening, battle situation.

I also recenctly made a search regarding the myth that lacquered steel case gum up the chamber. They fired 10k of 3 polymer and lacquered brands and 1 brass cased thru 4 BM guns non stop till they cannot hold em cause of heat and minimal cleaning if at all. 1 had a problem after 7k.

But then again, if I hadnt found ans amazing deal, I would've probably went a different direction.

The Stag is a solid choice. Chrome lined 4150 HPT/MPI barrel and MPI test bolt make the one of the best in the price range. Buffer tube is 6061 though.
