Does anyone with FRT access know if there are any non-restricted versions of the semi-auto remanufactured MG42 such as the Wiselite M53 that are approved and listed on the FRT. I seem to recall that John at Marstar was working on something a while back.

Yes there is a Non restricted MG42. Its made by Zastava Arms and its called MG42S. Dedicated semi auto version. Non restricted FRT. Chambered in 8mm Mauser

Is it so bad to ask to see an FRT instead of taking some random persons word for it? It sucks that it’s restricted. I just like to get the information from the horses mouth.

Its just more hassle. If one could simply link it, there would be no problem. But leave it up to the government to create a private database used to apply the law, but not share it with its citizens and instead sell it to foreign agencies.
Wonder what kind of trouble one might find themselves in by keeping a public copy of the FRT's for the purpose of firearms owners use? I think I will start collecting my own copies of firearms of interest.

Not at all, just not convinent. I try to help whenever anyone has a question about FRT entries, but I can’t link to them. I’d have to take a screen shot, edit and then upload to an image host and share that link. Also, depending what information you want, I’d have to screen shot the appropriate page/tab. Lastly the database isn’t very mobile friendly. I can’t seem to open the comment tabs on my cellphone.
Usually if ppl just ask for status I just post the answer.
Well us 12.3 owners might have gotten a break. I purchased a 12.3 back in December 2017 and instead of shipping the firearm to Ottawa for examination the SFSS and the gunsmith at the store I bought it at are just exchanging photographs of the modifications that need to be made. It has been four months and already photos have been examined. I think I might get it within 6 months which is way better than my last one which took 4 years.
Which works only if you purchase your 12(3) from a licensed Gunsmith or a store with same. Maybe. Perhaps. If the planets align....
There is only 2 of them in the country. They were the original samples John brought in.

But I guess being that there is published FRT, it gives hope that more can be imported or one of the current in the country unicorns comes up for sale
John was going to import some, but the price point was $8000+. I can just hear all the whining and snivelling on CGN if he bought them in.
