hey you bunch of Nutz! THX FOR READING!

i have been looking at the Zastava M57 for a few days, reading great feedbacks from internet but the one thing that isnt clear is the ease of getting the ammo and the cost of them.

first Q - any of you shot this gun- likes/dislikes?
second Q - do you find it tough to find ammo for this type of caliber/ gun?

thx

Paz

I had one, new manufacture. Well made, nicely finished, flawless funcition, but I never got on to shooting it well. Fun, lots of recoil and jump with a big ball of fire out the end! ...And as loud as a hand gun gets.

M57 has a longer more comfortable grip than a 33, but mags are next to impossible to get.

Ammo is cheap, and there is lots of surplus around.

M57 and M70a are the same size other than chambered differently. Mags are Very hard to come by. The tt-33 has a smaller (shorter) grip but mags are available and ammo is easy to get.

They are all great fun and overall built well for older milsurps. Accuracy for mine is pretty good. Some are great and some not so much. Take-down and cleaning is easy but if you use corrosive ammo they MUST be cleaned after every trip to the range. There are literally thousands of them in gun safes in Canada and i dare say millions world-wide. There are countless write-ups, reviews and info on these on the net.

Prices in Canada range from 2-300 so you can't really lose much money by trying one out. If you don't like it they generally sell fast on the EE.

Do what I did and buy both and then buy a m70a as your main shooter. After all, these guns can be bought for around $250. And even though 9mm does not have the same snap, you can fit one more round in the chamber. 9mm is still fairly inexpensive, so it is a good trade off. I still ended up putting a Hogue rubber grip sleeve on mine.

I also put the grip sleeve on mine, improved fit and hold for me; did not improve accuracy much. I have never shot the M70, and when I bought the M57 buying one was my plan. The accuracy issues changed my mind, and I bought a NZ85 instead; a good decision for me. I am still thinking about IPSC, and I don't believe that either the M70 is on the list; the M57 definitely is not.

I hear ya... the m70a and m57 wouldn't be on my IPSC list either, however they just so happen to be on my "cheap, $250, all steel, gun that go bang" list. Plus, they are well built and pretty good finished guns. I started appreciating these guns for what they are, a bit more when I started shooting them next to my High Power, CZ Shadow, 1911s and 92s. Even when compared to all but one of my polymer guns, the Toks has such a slim profile. My wife even like them better than her PPK but that is primarily because of slide bite from the Walther.lol

The Norinco TT style pistols are better built than the Zastava TT's...also the Zastava uses a proprietary firing pin set-up, so if you run into parts breakage you won't be able to use surplus TT parts to fix it.

HEY Garaldtao, thx for your input.. since you did mention the 92s this is also a pistol i am looking at. really liked the feel in my hand but is it accurate? CZ shadow, wish i could afford just now but it will be for later.

again thank you everyone for your comments!
M57 OR TT... they do dseem fun to shoot ;)

Just shot mine on Monday night. The m57 is so much fun to shoot!!! All the Youtube video talks as if the 7.62x25 will give more kick but I found it shoot pretty much the same as my Glock with American Eagle 115gr 9mm or Sumbro 124gr I got from Tenda. The grouping is not horrible as people often said but mine does shoot very consistent a little bit lower. At 10m, I was aiming at center and I can see a big hole (well pretty big scattered hole) about 2 inches below that after 200-ish rounds. I aim with the front sight slightly on top of the rear sight and shoots just fine. I might even get a TT later looks like mags are much easier to get.
