What’s the point of a coach gun

What other use is there for a shotgun outside grouse hunting? :)

I have tried them BTW. The guy I hunt with bought one and traded it to me for something else cuz he couldn't hit squat with it. I sold it FAST!

What was it?

Most of the newer production coach guns are pretty meh as far as handing and other qualities, so they're not great examples of the breed. Its the vintage ones that are the real deal.

Well that’s all the convincing I needed.

I picked it up yesterday. A 12g iga with 20” barrels and 1 triggger.

Cleaned it up and it’s now shining like a mirror.

Now to find some time to try it out.

I do not disagree with this, but a current production gun is still capable of hitting a bird or bunny with. It has to be easier than a 32" black powder rabbit ears in the woods.

The coachgun can be fast and relatively foolproof as long as you only need two shots.

If you are only interested in upland shooting why are you lurking in the black and green shotgun section? I put a couple of boxes thru mine yesterday at one of the local cowboy matches. I'll probably go thru 8-10 cases of ammo this year.
