I know they are 2 different bullets but I'm wondering if anyone has switched from TTSX to LRX with favorable results. I'm considering switching from 150 TTSX and H1000 to 145 lrx in 7mm RM. Will I likely need to use a different powder and should I expect to see higher velocity with the slightly lighter bullet? Feedback from anyone who has switched from TTSX to LRX in their rifle would be appreciated.

I have tried playing with a couple long range bullets with very little success. Problem is with the very long ogive on most of the long range bullets does not allow the seating depth to be moved around very much. I had a Rem 700 action with a 300 Wby length magazine and have installed a barrel in 308 Norma Mag. I now have a rifle with enough case capacity and a magazine that will allow the seating depth to be adjusted. Hopefully I will have a little more success.

You, my friend, have not only made an excellent choice in the 308 Norma Magnum,
but are also likely to find what you are looking for as to proper seating.
I have a Custom hunting rifle chambered 308 Norma Mag on a 700 action, with a 1-10
twist, 26" McGowen barrel. It is a real performer, accuracy and velocity are both
more than acceptable. The 175 LRX - 3 shots into about ½ moa consistently.
Interesting part for the OP, the 180 TTSX shot about the same, at similar speeds.

Enjoy, and keep us informed as to how that one turns out. Dave.

Over the years, shooting exclusively barnes I have gone from TSX to TTSX and now mostly LRX. Have found them all to be very accurate in all my rifles. You will need to do a new load work-up but will not likely have to change powders...I never have. You won't see much velocity difference between the 150 ttsx and 145 LRX at the same powder charge and seating depth. All versions have been flawless performers on game for my hunting crew.

Good luck!
Chris

I've switched to the 145 lrx from the 140ttsx and the 175 lrx from the 180ttsx. Barnes also makes a 139lrx now and 190lrx that are made to work in shorter mags. Might want to look at those.

That's some really good information thank you. I definitely have a coal restriction and can't get closer than .070" from the lands with the 150 TTSX (although it shoots great right there) so the 145 will be even further. Maybe it's better for me to wait for the 139 LRX to become available.

I use TTSX and sometime take off the Tip for short range hunting , I think it's open faster with that big hollow point

My 280 Remington is loaded with 140 TTSX at 3000 fps and accuracy is excellent.
Using the Sierra program it appeared the 145 at 2900 fps would have virtually the same trajectory to 400 yards so I bought a box but have yet to load them.
