The harmonica type muzzlez breaks are quite efficient in reducing recoil . But a 55 boys anti material round isn't something you could consider soft shooting .

May 28th 1945: Four aircraft were put out of action when Lt. T H Pemberton's aircraft, Hellcat JW723, bounced on landing, missed all the wires and broke through the barriers into the aircraft park, causing damage to JX827, JW733 & JX889.
Lt Pemberton must've hit pretty damned hard to miss ALL the wires and break through the barrier........![]()
