Hey guys! Was wondering if I put up a military picture a day (WW2 for the most part) we could discuss what we see, and think what the picture means. I am just a young pup to most, but am really interested in anything military. I know a lot of you guys know a lot more then me! and I am all about learning new things.

Cheers
Joe

Forgot to put with picture. "An American soldier gives a great big smile for the Signal Corps photographer. He's manning an air-cooled M1919A4 .30-caliber machine gun from an improvised bunker."

The smile on his face says...." Hi Ma!, had a great big poop this morning, then they came 'round with some hot chow and coffee....and now I'm locked and loaded for some Nazi's......all is fine, with me and my M1919A4. Don't worry, see you when we're done here." :D {or something to that effect:p}

Having to lean half way out of your bunker to fire and load your weapon makes for a poopty bunker.

Gotta love a classic WWII posed photo!

These were before radar and are listening devices used to detect aircraft .

Check out the thread I started with lots of pics of devices like these.

Thanks canuck98k! had no idea :) These guys are Canadian (by the looks of things) And wondering why mp40 instead of sten? I do realize that prob a lot of guys pick up German firearms thinking they were better? (not sure though) Any input?

I'd ditch a Sten for an MP40 in a heartbeat.

I'm sure you would have enjoyed military prison...H:S:

to tell the truth the only difference between a sten and an MP38u40 is the external length of the mag, (back to front) and some ergonomics.

Reliability would have been the same, unless you got a defective gun.
