How much did your rig cost?

Why is everything fun sooooo expensive? I enjoy looking at those nice builds, but I will never buy one in my lifetime, just don't have that kind of coin. Thank goodness for cheaper factory stuff. At least I can still shoot.

Nothing says you need to drop this kind of coin. Myself, I sold my house, which led to extra disposable cash, so I took the plunge to purchase a dream rifle I'd never own otherwise. I could built a just as competitive rig for 1/4 what I spent, but I still wouldn't trade my Barrett in.

Barrett mrad in 300wm 7k
308 conversion kit 2.5k
338lm conversion kit 2.5k
Barrett Bors 2 k
Night force ATACR 4k
Barrett rings, atlas bipod + spikes and other miscellaneous...

I could make a custom rig, with remage barrel swapping ability for a lot less, I know it and my wallet knows it... But I wanted a Barrett...

Its not, they choose it.

If you want to dip your toes in. You can easily put together a long range rig that will be moa or better for under 2500 including glass...

The most I have spend on ONE rifle is just shy of 5K, It worked the same as my 2k "cheap" rig... Was more comfortable though then the cheaper one! lol

The biggest mistake I made when I was new was not buying good glass... Now I buy an optic before the rifle. That way I cant cheap out on the optic because im being impatient.

Also will start to hurt when you realize, you now want a nice chrony, nice stand for it, a nice spotting scope and a nice tripod for that. That can easily slap an extra 1500 onto the entire build also lmao. Thank fully that is a one time buy!

Ya I know guys I don't need one that costs 10,000, but man they look nice.
I have a Stealth $1700
Viper 4-12x40 $500
Harris bipod, $150?
Burris zee rings $60?
Heathen Brake $200 ish
Rear bag $30
Extra steel mag $60
Only have an ok Crono. ( this is actually a very bad thing, probably cheaper in the long run to have a LabRadar )

Need a new riflescope... $1500 ish
Need a new rangefinder...$ 800 ish
Need a new spotting scope.......$ 800 ish
Want a new rear stock
Want an Atlas bipod
At least it will do well under moa with what I have,

Phew, I'm only sitting around $3k with mine, including the extra magazines.

This guy gets it.

A trued (maybe not even trued) Rem 700 with a good barrel screwed on by a good gunsmith is going to shoot just as well as a Defiance, Surgeon, etc.

Once you get into the pricier stuff you are really just buying name/flash and some durability if you get into the AI/TRG realm.

The real cost of shooting is the time spent loading IMO.

Not mine but this puts everyone in this thread to shame...

I think my buddy knows that guy.

Old pic of some of the rifles I've had:

Hid this one in the cost of some renos a while back, otherwise I don't think I could have gotten it:

Once I get my SLR parts all in and assembled, with tax, it will cost me just over 4000 dollars. And that's just with iron sights. I'll be using a lightweight Leupold VX-1 scope, which will add 400 bucks.
Very close to 4500 dollars all in. Currently my most expensive build thus far. But it's a modular NR AR platform, so for me it's worth it. And it's light at 6.5 lbs with irons, just over 7 lbs with glass.
I could have gone a lot cheaper but it would be less accurate and a lot heavier.
If only there was more 6.5 Grendel available to purchase in Canada...

Awesome thread.
Nice rigs guys.
It gets more easier to acquire as you get older.
The challenge now is finding room in the safe, and finding room for components in the loading room...and finding time to shoot!

True words. Now I’m nearer 60 than 50 I’ve got the resources to buy nice totes that in previous years went to mortgage, school fees etceteras but finding time to play with all is a real challenge!

This build has been ongoing since late 2015 and has only looked like this since the beginning of the year (much dirtier now due to the PRS/NRL season lol). I have tried my hardest to not pay full price for anything, but here is a list of what it would cost if I had lol:
Action: Tikka T3 LH Stainless $799
Barrel: Bartlien 26" heavy varmint in 6.5 CM $700 (with install)
Chassis: MDT LSS-XL Gen2 Fixed Tikka LH (modifies) $499
Stock: MDT SRS V5 $299
Scope: Vortex Razor 5-20x50 FFP EBR-2B $3199
Rings: Vortex PMR's $249
Base: MDT 20 MOA $50
Bipod: Harris SBRM 6-9" $150
Cerakote: $250
YoDave Trigger Spring: $10 (I know, big spender!)
Bolt Handle: Coretac titanium and carbon $80
Grip: MDT Overmolded $30

TOTAL: $6315 but keep in mind this has been over YEARS! I have learned so much from this build and can't wait to start my next one!

I have a general idea what everything in my safe cost me but I don't add it up... on purpose. That being said, I'm single, no girlfriend, no student loans, full time job and don't really do a whole lot outside of shoot and hunt... So to me, most of my recreation money goes into guns, bows and hunting.

Desert tech SRS a1 lefty 308win $7300
Tangent theta $4500
All other stuff bipod, mags, brake, tools $1200
