Well after a bunch of research I have to say my top 3 are the Tikka T3x CTR, Bergara b14 and the Savage 10 stealth. All are pretty much around the same price point and offer fantastic reviews. I am more leaning towards the Tikka though. It has the most positive online reviews, is the lightest rifle of them all (7.3lb vs 9+lb on the other two) and I happen to like the brand as my primary hunting rifle is a Tikka. I could get a MDT ESS chassis for it for bench shooting and still throw the synthetic stock on it for hunting. The only thing I do not like is it comes as a 20” barrel where you get the best B.C. out of a 6.5 Creedmoor in barrels 22”-26”. I was still watching guys making positive hits on target at 1000M with the stock rifle with the 20” barrel though so it obviously is not the biggest issue. Thoughts?
For what it’s worth, the Bergara won a bunch awards at Shot 2017.
I think for bench shooting the extra weight is to your advantage.
I can't find anything on the web about how they make their actions? Lots about their "high quality 4140 barrels" but not a word about the action.
Sabbati does the same, and after buying one and being not very impressed with the entire thing being castings and MIM, I'm rather cautious about these.
You can get a Rem 700 5r for less then the HMR and it won't blow bolt shrouds in your face lol.

Are you suggesting that Remington would have better quality control standards than Bergara? They’re one of the fast growing firearms manufacturers in the industry and typically have an excellent rep. And Remington is restructuring/going bankrupt (again) and has a horrible reputation for inconsistency

The action is all machined billet from what I can tell, and is essentially a worked Rem700 action. Tapered lugs, oversized extractor, etc. Very solid piece.

The only issue that the Bergara ever had with regards to the popped primers was when people were using non-magnum small rifle primers and prassures that exceed published max which the manufacture specifically advises against. The echo chambers of the internet continue. Rumours perpetuated over and over despite zero personal experience. Must be one of the fastest growing companies in the PRS world by coincidence.
I’m not trying to come across as a Bergara fan boy, but the modern Remington’s are so much more of a gamble with regards to quality control that I just couldn’t resist responding. As someone who worked in a gun store for 5 years and handled literally tens of thousands of guns, I have seen some brutal firearms come out of Remington factory boxes.
who carrys the Bergara here in Canada? website says cabellas but they don't list them. id like to have a close up look at one
