Cabelas Covenants are on sale again...

Are they any good? Comparable to Bushnell Banner, perhaps? I wouldn't imagine Elite, or Vortex or Leupold quality from a store-brand...

Not too bad, better then Vortex Diamondback line, Bushnell close to Legend level and probably the new Engage line. Eye relief (4") and clarity is pretty decent, I only have the FFP 4-16 version but really no complaints...24oz, good reticle, good tracking, 60moa of travel. Not sure how well the higher power version works as I haven't tried it yet. The 4-16 handled my 7mm Mag and never fell apart lol.

The 6-24x50 looks like the better scope on paper, but I've never found cheap high power optics to be user friendly in the higher end. The US site has more reviews and 18x seems about the top end before struggling with the eye box or focus. The 16x is fine at max.
I have it on a 6.5CM now but only playing at 200 working on loads. I'll get it to to 1000 once I settle on a pill.

was in town today and looked at the 4x16 really impressed with it for the price. brought one home will mount it up tomorrow and see whats what.

I was however to stupid to walk over and get a set of scope caps, can you tell me hitzy what numbers work on yours?

I'll have to check tomorrow.... I know they only had the clear ones that fit when I was there, I prefer the solid plastic ones.
They are pretty decent, reason I grabbed one initially was to see if FFP was any use to me and didn't want to spend $800. May grab a SFP for back-up, for the shooting I do it's all known distance and these reticles work very well for holding over and wind doping.

thanks. I decided against FFP as all my ranges are known distance aswell. I put together a cheeper lil toy one of those rem 6.5 CM barreled actions. had a factory set of bottom metal and a houge stock, so made for a cheep rifle. gona put it on that and see how she works

That was the 'Euro' line of Cabelas scopes/binos.. pretty sure these covenants are your typical chicom optics.

I wouldn't hold very high expectations from these, especially in the reliability department.

#### all for warranty boyos, wouldn’t take one if they gave it to me. Don’t listen to them in store as they know nothing, make sure you check the .ca website. US lifetime warranty, Canada not a damn thing. Same scope, do not buy. And be sure to tell them you are disgusted with their Canadian warranty policy before you walk out of the store leaving a full shopping cart behind.

Well Canada says 1 year:

The box says lifetime on it, which I would imagine they would have a very hard time denying as there are several consumer protection agencies in Canada. Personally it's a $279 scope...not too worried if it breaks after a year.
Ruger firearms have ZERO warranty, like nothing and people still buy those.

It's a step up from forced labour....that would be the Fitco/BSA/Hawke/Falcon/Vortex Crossfire lines that get made there lol.
Probably some kind of forced military school or community college program.
The Bushnell AR line is Chinese, and I was able to compare those side by side, the Covenant was way better eye relief and clarity.
Definitely don't expect $1000 quality, but it's not too far behind my Sightron S-tac.

I buy Rugers, by far under appreciated rifle in NA market.
Why would you need warranty on Ruger? They never break down, ever.
They are over build to assure the performance.
I am weary of products that have "life time warranties" that certain percentage of product produced is dedicated for replacement....

Well for one thing Ruger like everyone else has made a lot of junk over the years. They probably have more discontinued center fire pistols then all other companies combined.
If you google Ruger Warranty issues you will see they do have problems just like everyone else.
The "overbuilt" appearance is really a myth because they investment cast everything...it HAS to be bigger to equal the strength of everyone else's forged firearms. If they cast everything to the same dimensions as forged guns they would fail very quickly.

I got to try out my new SFP 4-16 and I like it better then the FFP one I have, it's clearer, eye box is more consistent, center dot is smaller, clicks are more audible. It's built a little different and doesn't have the steel coil spring tube thingy, not sure if that will make any real world difference or not?
I was looking through a Bushnell Engage at SAIL on Friday, and it was pretty much the equivalent of the old Simmons Varmint/Tactical things that sold for $100...not very impressed.
