what does a 6.5 creedmore do that a 6.5 x 55 doesn't?

A 12 year old has multiple choices for low recoiling hunting rounds already. Some of which are as or more versatile than a 6.5. Like 7-08 308 etc.
Nope, nothing to see here. Keep dreaming.

I’ve hunted big game with the 243, 243 AI, 260, 6.5x55, 270, 7-08, 7x57, 280, 280AI, 7mm RM, 7mm MSM, 308, 30-06, 300 Win Mag, 338 Win Mag, 375 H&H, and 375 Ruger. Some in multiple incarnations. Every single one of them could be considered insignificant as a hunting round. Every one of them could serve a liftime as a hunting round for an individual. Just because I think a cartridge is insignificant does not make it so.

I think you are being a bit single minded and head strong towards this topic.

I personally would not expect my 12 year old to enjoy the 308.

Just saying.

Call Ruger and ask them. This stuff isn’t rocket science.

Given that major manufacture are adding the 6.5 creedmoor into their hubting rifle platforms over the last 1, 2 or 3 years it is obviously seeing some interest among hunters. This is good, the north American market could use a mass appeal 6.5 in a new gun.

Methinks it isn't about to take out the 270 win though. And in another decade another round is likely to take out the creedmoor when sporting marketers want to sell something new.

Ruger has stated that the 375 Ruger was a much larger success than they ever could have dreamed. Without a doubt it's the most successful .375 caliber cartridge introduced in the last 100 years.

However, it's still a .375, so it's still a bit of a niche cartridge, and as such any 375 is always going to be less popular than smaller bore cartridges like the 6.5CM

Both cartridges have some similarity though- similar performance to older cartridges (H&H, x55) but in updated packages. Let's face it, these days nobody would introduce a cartridge that looks like the H&H or 6.5x55.

I just loaded 50 rounds of .308 for a 12 year old... 35.0 grains of H4895 with 125 SST's... she loved them... just saying...

Both cartridges are well-suited for hunting out to what I consider sane ranges, with the .308 Win. having the advantage with larger animals in the bullet-weight department. But when the steel targets get out there, you see that the game begins to change

Another opinion compared to a 308 win. A bit off topic I apologize

What hunting have you done? Can you give me one scenario where the 6.5 CM won’t work in this country?

Bears-Brown/Grizz it's not suitable at all.
Elk, Caribou it would not be my first choice.
If I was going out for Black Bears around here I would not take the 6.5CM as we still get some big ones.
Anything I would hunt with a 243 I would consider the 6.5CM the same level basically.
