Ruger Gunsight Scout Rifle Accuracy

Just under 1" with 180gr jacketed handloads.
I shoot cast only now in the rifle, 200gr GC bore riders are giving me 1-1.5" at 100m.(1760fps)
Hi-Lux(Leatherwood) LER 2-7x, set at 7x.
Would most likely do better with a higher power scope.(with finer crosshair)

It comes down to what do you really think you need from a 16.5 inch ruger scout. What do you expect as a good result for you?

I'm just asking what people are getting out of their gun. I'm seen some mixed reviews on the gun and I've been offered the opportunity to get one. But to answer your question, I would accept 1.5" at 100 meters with handloads. Under 3" with iron sights.

My 16.5 does around 1-1.5" 150gr nos ab handloads. Working on a 180rn now. Using a 1.75-6 leupold. Prib does better with a bigger scope.

I certainly wouldn't consider that unobtainable, and that is a level of accuracy that will instill confidence in the rifle under field conditions.

my scout with a 2x7 scope was grouping some old 180 win power points at 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 first time out. i'm thinking with a load it likes arround the inch seems doable.

Mine hates Hornady steel match ammo (2") but adores Hornady White Tail (<1"). So far my handloads are ~1" of 150gr TTSX and Varget.

I have 18.7" 308 and 16.1" 5.56. Have shot many half moa groups with both rifles with good ammo. I've shot the 308 to 1050y and it did 24" 3 shot group. Not bad considering

Is anyone making a 5rd polymer mag for the 5.56 version? That giant steel tumour of a mag is the only thing keeping me from buying one,

Patrick

I haven't seen a polymer mag smaller than 10 rounds for the 5.56. I have a Ruger and a MDT, both work well but the MDT took a little file work to get it to latch

I'd love a flush fit 3-4 round polymer mag for the 5.56

Its such a missed opportunity for Ruger, they could charge $100 each and people would be all over them
