ACR Media and Info Thread

When I was talking to the CFO about converting my ACR back and forth they told me the 30 day period was when you were allowed to transport your now unregistered restricted firearm to a verifier, you could not take it to the range and shoot it but you could transport it to a verifier or gunsmith.

Giant thank you to arms east for the rifle and conversion!

^ Where does one get a handguard like that?
You may not like the answer, lol!

It's an airsoft clone of the Remington ACR hand guard (which I think may have been actually designed by Cadex for Remington).

I know, airsoft, most people here balk at that, but the guys on ACRforums down in the states have been using these hand guards for years without issues.

I’ve had the same ones for a few years now and my #### hasn’t fallen off, but there are more options now than before.

Going to be DLC coating the Firing pin, and bolt components (NEVER TiN or TiAlN a bolt if you don't know the material and it's tempering temp, you WILL ruin it). this rifle is easily the slickest action I've used, but there's always room to improve when you're bored. Once I do, I'll post some pics for you guys. I could offer this to people at what it costs me to get a larger batch but since I DLC a lot of stuff it's no big deal. DLC is a low temp deposition so won' affect the heat treat or the titanium pin. it will prevent any galling (Ti LOVES to gall), and reduce friction considerably as DLC is near Teflon CoF.

Re hardguards, whats actually available these days? RPM is pretty much unicorn piss, then there's a bunch of airsoft companies. What actually works?

It's kind of funny, given all of the options, but the 'basic' polymer handguard is still my personal favorite.

Yup, I have no desire to change it.
I don't need or want rails all over the place and if I did you can add MOE rail sections to the polymer forend. I think a lot of people on here are simply addicted to complaining and then replacing parts for no real reason other than to save a couple grams of weight or be able to hang more junk off their rifle that they already complain is too heavy.

Well some junk is needed when you actually use your rifle. and having a M-Lok rail that is nice and slim is needed. The reduce weight is just a big bonus.

Lights, pressure pad, finger stops and QD mounts are standard on a fighting rifle.

I know what you're saying but I don't shoot at night and I can add any of those things to the standard polymer forend if I needed them. I have a rail on the bottom for my foregrip and I have a section of rail I can add to the side if I need to put on a light or laser.
How much lighter is the RPM handguard than the stock polymer one?
I 100% completely understand wanting to change out the Bushmaster railed aluminum forend though, I've shot a couple ACR's with it and it sucks.
