45ACPKing did this one up for me years ago. 2009 Norinco, USGI bolt, USGI trigger group, US GI walnut stock, gas system unitized. I never liked this rifle, could never get it to shoot for beans. At the range today shooting my "good rifles" and had some bottom of the bag loads left over from testing in my good Norinco, almost all GI parts and the following 4 shot groups at 100yds. (4 shots @ because that's all there was left of the test loads, I do batches of 20 with trial loads.

IMI surplus brass, Nosler 15gr match bullet, Vihtavuori 135 powder 41gr

Hornady Match brass, 168grSMK,reloder15 42gr

Umm... what is the single point scope mount? Maybe that's the issue you had. Looks high and not a brand I would recognize as a solid option.

Also, is the stock bedded? If the gas system is unitized, the rifle would likely benefit from a bedding job.

Bassett mount, high mount, cheapest of the Bassett mounts, I like the low mount better.

I've heard of the basset but have never seen one in person. When I was big into 14s nearly 20yrs ago, it didn't exist.

I'm not a fan of the cast rifles, but if they are the future of affordable m14's, now is the time to learn about their foibles/issues.

No matter the receiver, the more semi auto fullbore shooters we have, the better. There is legislative strength in numbers

Norinco receivers are forged not cast. Springfield Armoury M1A's are cast receivers.With the older receivers once a few little touches are added these a fun, dependable rifle. The machinery sound it makes as it cycles is quite delightful, to me at least

On the Bassett website there is a link to someone’s testing of it on a number of receivers, including early US import Norinco.
Looks as though some concern exists with the flat of the mount sitting fully flush with the receiver when mated on early Norincos due possibly to slightly off Center drilling of the hole in relation to the alignment grooves on the side of the receiver. It also makes one wonder if perhaps the perpendicular drilling or threading for the mount in the receiver on some of these norincos could also be suspect.

ya, apparently due to the canadian firearms importers and dealers greed..... they are now importing these rifles manufactured from cast components...... sad but true man. I was warning folks a few years ago that the stuff coming in was crap and the parts bins ran dry but no one wanted to believe me LOL

Starting with the 2016 imports, cast receivers have strated showing up mixed in with forged ones. As early as 2014, MIM bolts have been spotted Almost all the 7.62x39 receiver are cast. Maybe all of them are, but tough to speak in absolutes where chicom stuff is concerned.

The first cast .308 m305 receiver was shown in a thread here a couple weeks ago, dated 2016. It was less crude than the 7.62x39 guns and the owner did not suspect it was cast until better pics were posted.

The forged receivers vere better, but even some of those were lemons, you had to have seen a few to spot a good one vs a bad one.

Many (most?) Chinese receivers are not in spec in terms of the placement of the vertical scope mount spline in relation to the bolt hole. Sometimes they are off only a little and you can elongate the bolt hole in the mount, but if not, you need to go to a Brookfield type mount that is designed to not use the vertical spline.

I like the Brookfield design alot (Fulton, sadlak, SEI), but it is not meant to be removed once installed - everything is torque wrenches in with 222MS loctite.
