Been a long time in the making but finally got out with my "vintage style" varmint rifle.

Glad to see they are out already! I wish I knew more rural residents in my area, I’d be out clearing their fields.

And FLHTCUI, it’s always easy to see in the prairies :D

Yes Kratos I know it easy to see in the Land of Living skies.
One can see their dog running away for three days if you reside in Manitoba ;)
I was wondering how fast the grass was growing, cause eventually it will be to tall to see them lil Whistle Dogs.
More on your rig when you get a chance.
Tight Groups and Plenty of Pink Mist !

Yeah yeah, I’ve heard it all, I’ve been in Sask my whole life lol. As for the grass I’ve only ever went to cattle pasture areas to strike down the varmints, and that grass stays relatively low.
I had a 10/22 but sold it when I moved, when I’m home my dad has a 22LR bolt with a cheap 3x9 scope I use, couldn’t tell you make or model of the rifle or scope, never really thought to look or ask. It’s taken thousands of gophers and a few badgers (got too close for comfort) over the years, my dad has had it since childhood.
I’m sure you were asking about the OP’s rifle but wanted to chime in anyways. If ATRS gets NR on their AR style receivers I’ll be building a 22LR AR style gopher eliminator.

I was out fishing yesterday in the mountains and the columbian ground squirrels are out in full force right now. They are just a tad bigger than the Richardson's variety.

A 218 Bee that I got off of another CGNer earlier this year. He said who did the barrel but I dont recall.

I had to do a bit of work on the breech to remedy the pitting from its previous life as a black powder unit. As well as reducing the size of the firing pin.

Scope is a Hi-Cal 6x reproduction of a Malcolm unit.

Fun little gun

A lot of people don't realize that little cartridge can push a 35 gn bullet past 3200 FPS. Deadly little rig you have there.
Scott...

My goal is to duplicate 17 HMR (or the newer 17 WSM) ballistics. Hope to get exceptional brass life and better the HMR in the wind. No need to hot load it (have a .223 for longer range) but want the intermediate round to fill the gap between the 22LR and the 223.
