that they are...but range and accuracy will be abysmal... :p

also, PR, can you post when the rifle barrel's go up. I keep checking rifle consignment...but I'll probably forget to check later... :(

I have been doing this for years now have four 14" Contender handgun barrels that I mount on carbine frames chambered in 338JDJ#2, 375JDJ, 45 Colt and 45-70.

You would be amazed at how accurate these combo's are.

I would not hesitate to hunt/shoot deer with the 45 Colt out to 150 yards and 200 yards for the 375JDJ & 45-70 on game up to moose.

I am just starting to work with 180gr Accubonds in the 338JDJ#2 loaded to 2500fps it is still doing over 1800fps @ 300 yards if my accuracy goals are reached I will shoot up to moose size game with this 27 1/2" combo out to 300 yards.

The 35 Rem and the 445 mag barrels that are for sale would be awesome light weight - fast handling deer hunting combo's but I'd limit myself to appr 100 yards with these.

hey, have you printed on paper with the .45-70 @ 200 yards?

what was your load?

my brother has one of those for his Encore that I inherited when he died, so I could re-purpose it.

I've shot a lot of paper with all of my rifles especially the Contenders carbines.

With the Super 14 45-70 barrel I mostly shoot 300gr - 350gr jacketed and cast bullets I zero them 1" - 1 1/2" high at 100 yards with a VX2 1-4X duplex reticle scope held on the tip of the bottom post is dead on at 200 yards.

Every time I'm at the gun club someone has to come over and ask about my Contender carbines especially the 14" barreled setups in 375JDJ and 45-70 so I let them take a shot but they have to shoot freehand at the 200 yard gong no one has ever missed the gong.

Your shooting an Encore you can push your loads to far higher pressures than I can with the Contenders.

I also have a 21" 375JDJ and a 22" 45-70

I have shot a few  mostly 14" - 24" barrels.

Right now I have 6 non-restricted original Contender frames, 2 non-restricted G2 frames, 1 restricted Contender frame and 20 barrels also have a new G2 frame and stock set ordered figured it would be here by now but unfortunately its not.

These are super cool very accurate little firearms in both handgun and carbine configurations I started collecting them 23 years ago I highly recommend them.

I want one more barrel so if PR has it on their list I am looking for a stainless 14" bull barrel chambered in 17HMR this will be my go to grouse gun during the fall hunting season will throw the combo into my backpack and if I get out to the in-laws in Alberta I'll be chasing gophers with it as well.

My 53grs H322 with 325gr FTX 45-70 Contender loads give 1757fps in the Super 14 45-70 barrel the cool thing is they are only 100fps slower than in my 22" 45-70 Contender barrel.

The Super 14 barrels with muzzle brakes are actually 12.5" rifled barrels plus 1 1/2" for the muzzle brake so that is only 100fps slower in a barrel that is 11 1/2" shorter.

250gr Monoflex in the Super 14 45-70 = 1886fps & 2054fps in a 24" Encore 45-70 barrel

300gr TTSX = 1837fps in the Super 14 45-70 and 1980fps in the 24" Encore barrel

22" 45-70 barrel with 300gr JHP = 1860fps and I have pushed them to 2072fps, 400gr Speer JFP = 1605fps, 425gr WLNGC = 1706fps

405gr Bullet Barn RFNGC gives me 1556fps in the Super 14 barrel

My 525gr WLNGC Marlin 1895GS loads gives me 1698fps in the 24" Encore barrel

Here are a few more Contender barrel velocities for you...

240gr XTP 45 Colt loads do 1513fps in my 14" Match grade Machine barrel.

95gr TTSX 6.8SPC loads do 2880fps in a 19" barrel and over 3000fps in a 23" barrel (before I had it shortened)

32gr V-Max 204 Ruger do 4051fps in a 23" barrel it is now 19"

21" 7-30 Waters barrel with 139gr SST's give me 2516fps

21" 223 with 40gr V-Max gives me 3486fps 60gr gives me 3127fps

21" 17 Rem with 20gr V-Max or Nosler Armaggedon gives me 4100fps I stupidly sold this barrel

21" 375JDJ 260gr Accubonds average 2280fps - 2300fps I would shoot moose out to 300 yards with this super accurate combo

21" 375 Win barrel with 220gr JFP = 2032fps

18" 10mm barrel 135gr Nosler JHP = 2068fps, 200gr XTP = 1402fps

21" 308Bellm 110gr V-Max = 2768fps, 125gr Nosler BT = 2785fps, 150gr Rem Core Lok 2623fps
