Hello guys!

I'm looking for my first AR15. I have a budget of ~2k CAD.

I found these models :

Colt LE6920-EPR
F1 Firearms FDR-15
FN15 Tactical

These rifles cost between 1400 - 1700$

Which one you guys recommend ? Accuracy / quality / service ? Do you have any others recommendations?

Thanks you very much!

Colt and FN are well known brand arround, and F1 Firearms are pretty new tho... but their quality seems amazing... anyone with experience with F1?

If I had $2000 to spend on an AR I'd probably get one of the FN15 Military Collector rifles. Slightly over your budget but worth looking at.

My CORE15 have served me well overt the last 5 years with close to 9k rounds of mixed surplus 5.56 from Norinco, reloads and steel cased 5.56 ammo without a single hiccup.

Precision wise: I was able to produce sub-moa with reloads. Rifle is more accurate than me.

If you can find one, buy with confidence. It also comes with a BS free warranty.

This. DD, Colt, BCM, CC, LMT if you want TDP. Noveske Or Larue if you want Sub MOA accuracy. KAC if you want full ambi That exceeds TDP specs.

The Noveske, Larue, and KAC are probably out of your budget. BCM and Colt will be below depending on the model. (1300-1500). DD and CC will be around 2k. Not sure about LMT prices.

I personally have a DD M4V5 and it's a great rifle.

What features do you want specifically? What is the intended purpose of the rifle? do you want a FF rail? MLOK? Keymod? 1913? bbl length? gas system? etc...

The point of that series of rifles is a TDP gun, the FN Military Collector rifles are not TDP guns. The .gov contract for M16/M4 Prohibits it.

The OP is where I was a year ago.

Until you own and use an AR, it may be impossible to understand what features you want. Maybe, get a less expensive model with good resale value (S&W or PSA), put 1-2k rounds through it, and then pick a rifle that suits your preferences. Sell the first one or keep it as a loaner. Buying a high-end unit that you end up not liking could be expensive.

A higher end model will hold a higher resale value. I don't think the OP or anyone for that matter would be ill advised in buying a quality brand out of the gate. Short of some rather drastic changes you can do almost anything you want to an AR to make it your own without having to start over.

Thanks for your tips ! After some research I think I should invest in a good midlength gaz system. I tried to search some specs on the new LE6920 EPR and the FN15 tactical and I think they are not Midlength. I'll contact their customers service.

Mid length is a good choice. Most are 16" though some are 14.5. If your not sure about rails I would recommend either an MLOK rail or a quad 1913 rail, depending on your weight considerations and what you intended to attach to the rifle. MLOK has proven stronger than keymod in NSWC Crane testing and it has the added bonus of not looking like a bunch of dicks machined into your receiver. Laugh2

Seeing as USSOCOM is looking to adopt an MLOK URG, there should be lots of support for MLOK accessories in the future.

I would definitely take the LE6920 over the FN15 Tactical. Personally i think the FN15's are overpriced for what you're getting, there are better options out there. Generally 16" will be midlength but this is NOT always the case, so verify the specs sheet on the EPR (I did a quick search and it appears to be a carbine length). I know BCM makes some mid length rifles. I will recommend a Daniel Defense DDM4V5 (16" quad rail), a DD M4V7 (16" MLOK) or if you want a 14.5" barrel but still a mid length gas system, a DD M4V5s

I own the V5 and really like it. though I am changing the pistol grip and the stock as I don't care much for them but this is subjective. If I was to get another AR15 I would get a BCM (preferably with a CHF barrel). DD an BCM are pretty equal with a slight edge to DD for the CHF barrel on all their rifles, and an edge to BCM for price (depending on model). BCM has CHF barrels on some models but not all.

WOW! alot of informations there ! :) Is there some canadians resellers for BCM? Found some but they are out of stock mainly !

Calgary Shooting Centre has some BCM tops in right now. Something else to consider is that you will need a 16" barrel to enter the USA if you wish to shoot there. A 14.5" barreled gun is permitted if you permanently affix the flash hider and break the magical 16" mark.
