There is grey area on the butler creek ones though. They were designed long before the charger came to market.
Again, the law doesn't say its strictly about design, it stated its also about what it is manufactured for.
Youza.

It mentions the 10/22 model, and the charger pistol is most definitely a 10/22 receiver. Or are you argueing it isn't?
Youza.
A large number of the BC mags were built and sold before the charger ever existed. How can those mags be designed or manufactured for a gun that didn't exist at the time?
You do realize that makes no difference, right?
It is also manufactured for use in a pistol. And as long as thats true, the law is clear.

I have this great idea, why not just make it illegal to use the BX 25 unpinned in the Ruger Charger........ whew that was hard to come up with lol
The butler creek 25 round mags where designed for the ruger 10/22 long before the charger pistol was even thought of. End of story
I blame ruger for calling the charger a pistol. It’s iust a 10/22 with a short barrel, they only called it a pistol to get around the NFA rules in the states dealing with SBRs
Wait what?? This is not an actual law?? I got rid of 3 new 25 round butler creek mags cuz I didn’t want the things pinned to 10
Thats not quite accurate and it does sound like you are the one who hasn't taken the time to read and understand the law, probably like most of the people who don't understand whats going on with the 10/22 issue.
The law states that a magazine is prohibited if :
This in fact asks two questions :
1- Is the Ruger 10/22 25-round mag capable of containing more than 10 cartridges of the type for which the magazine was originally designed?
The answer is YES, it is capable of containing 25 cartridges
and
2- Is it designed OR MANUFACTURED for use in a semi-automatic handgun commonly available in Canada?
The answer is YES, it is (also) manufactured for use in the pistol version of the 10/22 that is commonly available in Canada
answering yes to both these questions means the magazine is in fact prohibited.
Objectively, its not the RCMP's fault, but rather the manufacturer's fault for releasing a pistol version of the rimfire rifle that uses the same mags.
Clearer?
Youza.
Thanks for posting this. I missed the manufacturing part. That coupled with the BX25 being marketed for the charger on the packaging(as I'm told), made up my mind. It's definitely not legal.
However, this only strengthens my resolve about the Butler creek magazines. Also the gsg 110 drums make no mention about the charger on packaging from what I've seen and are designed for the rifle.. Why don't businesses import those instead, they are what we need prevelant up here.
Same I didn't know if this was law or not I pinned 2 of my butler Creek 10/22 mags Because I thought they would be a prohibited device now. I kind of wanted to toss em'
Like I stated before and a very reputable dealer stated this as well.....RCMP opinion is NOT LAW.....I shoot my 25 rounder freely as as far as concerned...rimfire magazine capacity is unlimited which is outlined in the firearms act
Fact#1: The RCMP approved the Charger knowing it took 25 rounds mags. (Butler Creek and others)
Fact#2: The RCMP is attempting to ban 25 round mags because they can be used in the Charger.
This sounds like a problem created by the RCMP by either ineptitude or subterfuge. Pick one, either one is a scary as the other.

Agreed. The idea that the BX25 is prohibited based on what was printed on the package rather than its functionality is absurd and embarrassing as a country. Firearm laws should not be this complicated nor should they be 100% geared at creating "paper criminals".
