Hi

Now that they are complete, wanted to share with you these 2 babies (replica of the C8A3 and the C7A2).

Hardest part to source was the C8A3 triad which came from a batch sent to USA for evaluation (and rejected)

Hope you like them !

I'm gonna say it. I'm jealous!! I'm working on my C8A3 and I don't think I'll ever see a 4 slot triad in my lifetime..congrats.

Interesting problem I'm having right now is the triad 1 I have doesn't seem to fit my sight post. Everything is Diemaco marked so I don't know what's going on. It's like both sides won't screw together completely. There's about a 1/8" gap and I can't tighten anymore. Wonder if you've come across any issues with your setups with the C7 or C8.

I have to say that both Triads fits without any issue on the front sights, which are regular A2 types

Does it close without issue when removed from the barrel ?

It does close when I remove it from the barrel. I'm wondering if the triad is out of spec or the sight post as the front post is forged.

The TRIADs don't clamp together perfectly on issued rifles either... You kind of just have to squeeze and tighten them as much a you can and that's it.

Where does one find a sling plate like that? And does anyone know if the Carbine is supposed to have a 13 or 14 slot upper receiver? Nordic has the 14 slot upper and I'm looking to replace it on mine.

Carbine is the same, the difference for slots is in the Triad where the carbine has the scalloped front.

The CF military uppers aren't the same as the civilian Colt Canada uppers that you can buy. The military uppers are taller, for starters. We've had them since before the 1913 picatinny standard was a thing so we have our own flat top specifications and our back up rear sights are shorter than commercial back up sights to compensate. The uppers you can buy have regular top rail dimensions as any other commercial upper and feature an extra rail slot at the rear just above the middle of the forward assist so you can mount your back up iron sight a bit further back.

The C7A1, C7A2, C8FTHB, C8A3, and even the unofficial "C8A1" (that were built using C7A1 flat top uppers) use the same uppers in the CF. The shorter C8s use a different TRIAD to accommodate the M203A1's sight.

Finding the sling plates wasn't easy. I got 2 as pure luck and traded a third one. So i'm left with an extra one unless i build a third rifle (unlikely !)

Now, is it me or the Diemaco magazine catch isn't working as well as the original Norgon ? My Norgon works like a charm, my diemaco ones not so well

So if it has 14 slots it is the correct pre-1913 CF upper?

I have seen no reference to the CF using the triangular end plate. Even the brand new C8A3 i have seen come with the normal one...

I know that some guys at some units were "testing" the triangular end plates back in 2011 here (I installed some for them) but I haven't heard or seen anything since, lol. Hopefully other bases have them for good. I still cannot order any.

They are definitely better than the current flat end plates used for straps that end up getting bent easily that is also easy to bang your knuckles on when charging the rifle. Most people use slings with HK-style hooks and clips anyways and add loops on the back of their issued rifles to clip their slings on.
