Not quite sure what I was talking about on the other post, but the bluing is dark and black looking. The mag needs a little filling to get a better fit, and so far, she needs to be pulled out. (may need a bit more tweaking) The trigger pull is like a soft 2 stag, but very smooth. Cocking the action is, well, loud and noisy compared to most rifles, but again, quite smooth. The handguard seems a little flimsy, and needed to be bent inward to lock on better. My one minor beef is the dust cover. I think the lock needs some tweaking as well, as just a tap on the bottom of the mag, and she pops open. I may have some ammo by the end of next week, so I hope to have a range report by then.

Incidently, why can't you get 5/30 mags? It seems odd to go to all that trouble to design a faithful replica when you don't have the mags that complete the image.

Looks sharp, too bad you couldn't get 5/30 rd mags.

Interesting, StG 45 Test Mag :D

There are original MP 44 mags already in Canada, so I don't see that as an issue with this firearm.

However, they are all over 60 years old. Are the BD44 mags new production or just refreshed WW2 mags ?

THat wood just looks itchin to get oily, dirty and sun darkened!!

+1.

I'd be VERY tempted to source a laminated stock for it.

Is Marstar offering all the wood options listed on the mfgr's site, or just the beech stocks?

So far I think it looks great :) May have to order one soon... though perhaps I'd like the MP38 clone better... decision, decisions...

You can tell just at a glance that it is not an original. The lines are too sharp and clean.

LOL - give it 60 years of normal range time, or 6 months of use at the front and it'll look as original as any Nazi made stg44 ever did ;)

Well I don't know about that. I had a good look at the real thing about 2 weeks ago, and I was quite impressed at to how well that were built. Even the mags were top notch.

One side note, many people have mentioned that the Germans never had enough of these rifles to make much of a difference. I was quite surprise to read that by the wars end, they had produced "over" 400,000 of them!

Yeah, but most of them remained at the factory depots next to piles of unissued Kriegsmodel K98k's and other assorted kit because there wasn't enough rail left unbombed nor enough diesel for the remaining serviceable trucks to distribute them to the various German armies still (barely) in the field!

Thank allied (read US daylight) bombing raids on Ploesti for that!

Damn, now you've undone all my therapy and brainwashing. The urge to get one of these is back.

One of the biggest problems with the MP44's during the war was ammo. The Germans never did have the capacity to manufacturer sufficient quantities of it.

CLAVEN2;
We will offer the different wood as it becomes available....
Our beech stocks are original in every respect....
Buy both models, why torture yourself with difficult decisions....
Then the SKb-42, an Fg-42, a BD-3008, etc, etc....
John

Looks great! The only thing I would do is darken the wood (or source an original set :D ). Looks like I have yet another 3k rifle to pay for.

Oh yeah and IBTFTSINTBI7HTPSLS (In Before The Fudds That Say It Needs To Be In 7.62x39, Have a Tapco Plastic Stock, and Leapers Scope)

Excellent, thanks for posting the pics. It is gonna be great to see these at the range finally!

I better start saving now. Kidney for sale! Kidney for sale!!

What's the calibre? 7.92 Kurtz?

If so - while historically accurate - would be useless to me. Where in the ayetch-eee-dubble-hockeysticks do you get ammo? Do they even sell brass or dies for this round?

9mm would be cool! :)
