My 2 Colt Canada replicas

I know that some guys at some units were "testing" the triangular end plates back in 2011 here (I installed some for them) but I haven't heard or seen anything since, lol. Hopefully other bases have them for good. I still cannot order any.

They are definitely better than the current flat end plates used for straps that end up getting bent easily that is also easy to bang your knuckles on when charging the rifle. Most people use slings with HK-style hooks and clips anyways and add loops on the back of their issued rifles to clip their slings on.

My trusted sources told me that the CF did not adopt the triangular ones and that they will be considered when they run out of the old style ones. But he also said that when this happens, he bets that they will order the old style again

Elcan should go on the C7 and a Eotech 552 on the C8.

I hated those stupid sling end plates. Took them to the wpn techs and they grounded them off for me.

Correct, atleast on the first part. We can only hypothesize about the future so much.

As for EoTech, well...I can go through each vault in my building and count on one hand how many C8's have them. Hell, we've got more with a rear iron sight post than an EoTech. That whole warranty #### show a few years back, we sent them all in and haven't seen any come back.

I don't know wtf is on your c7 clone for optics but i haven't seen any of those on a c7...

As for the sling endplates. I just run my sling off the stock.

As far as the sling plate and it's use, it's just a cloner thing. I did the same with my CQD sling plate even though I use the QD plug on my stock.

Ah, it's just a crappy Burris sight. I'm not crazy enough to own 2 Elcans. No offense but they are pretty bad for Practical shooting and that's what i do it with the C7

None taken I despise these things. I just need to figure out how to disguise an acog as an elcan c79. I'm surprised you didn't try to put an eotech on the c7.

EoTech 552 was withdrawn from service in 2015 because of the US Army lawsuit. If you’re building a clone prior to that than either is correct as some units replaced the EOs with Elcans.

Warranty issues aside, our C8s all had EoTechs (pre-2015)...but we'd either trade off for a C7 w Elcan, or swap the EoTech for an Elcan when we were shooting PWT3.

So did they get swapped for the xps or is our cool kids going aimpoint?

I would imagine the eotech at 300 wouldn't be fun.

It was replaced with the ELCAN C79. No more red dots for regular army. For the time being at least.

Late to the party, but if the length and front glass are close to the same size, could you build up an "adapter ring" just a little forward of the eyepiece to hold an Elcan cover in shape?

I did not know there were 2 triad lengths. Guess i should be happy mine is a 4 slot. What is the vertical grip and the mount for the handguard? Guess i need one in black and green. For the guy having issues mounting the triad maybe try putting the mount screw in from the other side

VFG is Cadex 622-000 in Green--mine is a US market one from when Cadex and Viking Tactics had a partnership. Rail is either Cadex CMR-418-02 or CMR-419-01--one is 4.2" for C8 and the other 6" for C7, but I forget which is which; they're cheaper than the US-made GG&G alternates so I just had a dealer special-order both and I'll set the other aside for a C7 in case my gal decides she's really serious about this "couples Service Rifle matches" thing.
