My next "desired" gun would be a 9mm AR15, but I'm quite confused on what is available here in Canada...

Is there such things as AR15 lowers registered as a PISTOL with the RCMP? (I'm looking at making a short rifle, and since I shoot in the US, I would need the lower to be registered as a pistol to be able to bring it)

Is there 9mm "inserts" sold anywhere? (to convert the mag well to 9mm)

Is there any pistol mags in 9mm like the LAR mags? (so that I could have 10 rounds magazines)

I saw a 9mm upper sold by a "not so fine" dealer.....that you can have an insert that takes Glock mags......anyone here that can attest those are reliable?

Many thanks

Brownells has 85% of the stuff you need. Get a Hahn or Spikes mag adapter if you can, they are adjustable in both angles and adapter height. Or get a Cmmg dedicated lower. Those are the 3 brand names that works, i tried other brands and they are at best..iffy.

Brownells now sells a hybrid cut BCG that can be used on both glock lower and the OG Colt/UZi lower, plus those BCG are also ramped meaning any hammer can be utilize.

Questar may have some pistol RRA lower!? If they dont. Ask and see how long the wait.

This describes my 9mm build

Tier One Armoury in Edmonton sells Quarter Circle Ten receivers which are dedicated pistol caliber lowers that don't need a magwell adapter.
Questar sells 9mm AR parts.
IRunGuns also brings in 9mm AR uppers and rifles.
Wolverine Supplies also carries 9mm AR's

There are a few more retailers but I'd have to do the work you should be doing to find them. Go for the 9mm AR, I love mine. They're a blast to shoot and the cheapest centerfire AR to shoot. I also have a dedicated 22LR upper but my 9mm gets used way more.

I have an Angstadt UDP-9 that I've got from Wolverine. It's an awesome 9 mm AR that takes glock mag so you can use 10 rounds. It's not an insert, but a proprietary lower that is super ###y. I'm quite happy with it.

There is also the BL9 from Black Leaf that is made in Canada, takes Glock mags and is FRT'd as a pistol. Have had the pleasure of shooting their shop side charging upper, zero issues with function, holds open on an empty mag, and shoots very well. From what I am hearing more units available towards the start of next month, waiting to get one of their BL15 lowers right now myself.

Lots of pictures on their social feeds, here is one I stole!

Thanks for all the replies guys....

I had this upper in mind

What I would like to do is having a lower registered as a PISTOL (I shoot in the US and anything less than 16 inches barrel registered as a rifle is a NO GO)

I would much prefer to have a regular AR15 lower that I could use with 5.56 and 9mm with the adapter for Glock mags....

I also do not want to spend too much money on that build since it will be more of a "fun gun" than anything else..

Still researching.......would love to hear if any of you have this particular upper........I get nowhere on Google to find anything about it besides this video...

Thanks again

Then go to IRG and get those PSA 9mm upper. 399USD i believe and its ready to run, then get your prefer pistol lower. Again, make sure you get a mag adapter that is adjustable in all 3 forms ( Height, angle, ejector height). What i found is that glock lower seems to less sensitive in those aspect where an actual UZI/ Colt style lowers are more prone to failure to feed if the adapter is not setup properly.

It has to do the fact that glock mags dimension are pretty standard and only 3 brands to choose from ( in canada anyways; KCI, Pmags,OE). Where UZI/Colt style mags are everywhere and made by almost everyone, so there is a slight variance in dimension, some are tight, some are loose. For me so far, the ASC mags kinda work, the OG Promag RRA mags work like a charm and it runs like a sewing machine, and then the NMTG 5/32 mags are also the best albeit with only 5 rnds cap.

Also, make sure you have a proper X-long buffer and not just run a H3 buffer. If you can't locate an actual 9mm heavy buffer, let me know because i am somewhat certain that i have an extra Spikes 9mm buffer or the slash 9mm buffer. OR, you can do what we did back in the days and stack a bunch of 10mm washers from Home Depot down the buffer tube and run a heavy H3 buffer. The only problem with that is now your spring is super compress and needs to be trim down.

Thanks a lot sky52

Now, I'm looking everywhere to find an AR15 Pistol lower....... can't find any......

There was some made by NEA and sold by SFRC a few years ago.......

https://aeroprecisionusa.com/ar15-stripped-lower-pistol-marked.html. Try Saskatoon gunworks and see if they can bring that in for you? If not, Prophet or IRG should be able to albeit as a third party import which is $200USD. But hey, sometimes that is the way it is. Gotta pay to play. Another suggestion is to call Dlask and see if you can buy the unfinish lower and have it marked pistol and then let them finish the machining ( theirs are not the 80% kit, but rather a 10% or whatever you wanna call it, its essentially just a unmachined block of aluminum that shapes like an AR).

I had to do a very similar thing when North Sylva can't bring in the M&P 2.0 in 5 inch FDE.

Black Leaf has just put theirs up on their site as well, looks pretty good from the pictures and is registered as a Pistol, as noted in their info.
