9mm 1911's

Bill and I are friends, so this is ribbing. But, to answer your question, any time you venture beyond .45ACP in a 1911, you are at risk of wrath. This usually manifests itself in less than perfect functionality but that is because of mercy.

I have 1911s in 45,38 super and 9mm.All are equally reliable. The concept that 9mm in 1911s is less reliable may have been true in the past but these issues have largely been sorted out.

I had a STI Spartan in 9mm. It was accurate and ran perfectly. I only sold it because I was changing direction towards rimfire with my hobby.
I have also owned 1911's from Dan Wesson, Colt, and Smith & Wesson.
I would gladly own any of them again, Especially a Smith or Dan Wesson.
I have read lots of great things about Les Bear pistols.
The next 1911 I purchase will be a S&W Pro Series in 9mm with adjustable sights.

Yeah, I've already explained why that is so.

I have a 1911 Norinco 9mm and it shoots straight, cycles every time with no issues like stove piping or jams.
Tenda had a good sale on them and cheap ammo so I thought I'd try one out and I'm happy I did.

they call it chrome but it seems more like a powder coated silver.

Count me as a +1 for a 1911 in 9mm.

Yeah, yeah.... the 'classic' of course is .45ACP.... but I've got room for 1911's in 9mm & .22lr, too.

I’ve had a SAM Millitary Enhanced 9mm for several years and have many 1000’s of rounds through it with no issues other than replacing guide rod spring to a 16 lb one. It’s no $2000.00 gun by any stretch but has been a good range gun.

I own one like this

By far the best pistol I own. Super precise, easy to shoot, great trigger, nice size (I have small hands). No problem yet, but I admit I did not shoot it extensively (about 2k rounds).

Well after exploring a few options, it'll be one of those Dan Wesson 5" LASD 9mm Specialists mentioned earlier in this thread - I considered, and talked to a few vendors, re a whole gamut of pistols but in the end it was hard to beat a DW for sub 2K$Can. Early Daddy's Day gift :) .
