Matte or gloss optic to go on my Ruger RSI?

Matte because stealth matters in the field. Not so much when sitting in the living room recliner. Reflective surfaces are a dead giveaway that will spook game being stalked.

There is a third guy, taking the picture with a glossy camera... yuppies...

Gloss looks good in my opinion, though matts not too bad with matt rings. Thats just me. 24 years of hunting and I have yet to spook game with my glossy scope, or rifle. In fact I often neglect to wear camo and this doesn't seem to be a problem either. Now getting up wind of the critter, or 'sky lining' myself, are blunders I have made that cost me my game ..... just my personal experience, and preferences.

All mine are gloss but that's only because back when I bought a bunch of Vari-X III Leupold Scopes the matte were an extra $20 at LeBarons and I was too cheap to pay the difference.
Not sure if it's still the case but I have all the scopes I need so sticking with gloss and I like the look of them.

I just mounted a Burris 2-7 to see if I like the matte finish. The Rings are blued, so it looks a little odd with blue drinks and matte finish scope. Chances are most of the time I will run it without a scope. These look just so nice with just the iron sights

I have had dozens of RSI's, both M77 and No.1, I have tried many scopes both Matte and Gloss, and have concluded that, for me, matte is a better choice... it actually matches the bluing quite nicely and it doesn't hurt that it holds its value better on resale.

I have a spair set of matte rings I am going to try instead of the blued ones. Probably will tie it in nicely.

I always keep an extra gloss Leupold 1.5-5, contact me if you are looking.

10-4, thank you for the offer

It's dress up Barbie time with the boys. :)

:p

IMHO, a classic gloss-finish blued rifle looks ridiculous with a matte scope, and vice versa as well.

"Stealth matters"? Sounds like the guy with whom I hunted geese many years ago. He insisted upon squinting his eyes when watching incoming birds; he said they would be spooked by the whites of his eyes otherwise. Let's not get silly. Buy whatever looks right to you.
