it become apparent to me that perhaps the whole rifle reboring might be a international affair only?
no searches really come up with "re boring " services for barrels? but there is various barrel makers in Aus, i assume these guys can Do it?

Realistically , the price would be rather high an hardly worth the cost of operation as opposed to a new barrel appx $700-+ , but for chambers sake and barrel profile of the ruger #1 say, theres a thought i had today was, why not .338-03 the 303 British I have, its not a huge amount to shave? atleast i will know the barrel is .338 no more, aught to shoot better and worst case was the confusing 8mm-03 idea but with woodleighs under 8mm there is all sorts from .318, .323, .330 .333 up to .338...... which perhaps the twist of the barrel might better suit? or does re boring completely re twist as it does its thing?

i've noticed in the past months ther has been 4 or so ruger 1 303s poppin up in our classifieds! so, ya know... they just aint grande

Cool idea. Heart's desire. But what that would do to resale value has certainly crossed your mind.

No body wants the Ruger 303s in australia LOL an those who do, dont.

there would be no resale, if it doesnt stay a 303 due to lack of use, it would be re barrelled , as only real option, nothing says re boring here! so weird i find.

it will most likely stay a 303 with 215 woods only. all dies available etc... would get away with just using a neck sizer for a 338 fed or whatever....... brass b no real drama, figures would not matter, decent accuracy would be handy...... real handy.

Personally think that project is a waste of time and money, better spent elsewhere. If you rebore a barrel it obviously needs to be cut-rifled to whatever twist rate you specify. You will definitely sink significant money into a moderate change and it will definitely devalue your rifle. IMO, you would be better off selling what you have and buying what you want... far better off.

Sometimes dollars don't have to make "cents"......If you want something and have the $$$ do it. We're not on this rock for a long time.
