Is it comfortable to shoot? (Close you eyes, mount the rifle in a standing position and open you eyes. What is the image? Is the scope too, high too high too low, that is the answer to the question IMHO)
Yes it is preferable to get the scope lower to the bore, but it is not the end of the world if it is not. Comfortable, natural height is more important for consistent shooting.
I have had rifles in which I have had jaw welds on and shot well. But never as well as a rifle hat has a perfect cheek weld / scope alignment. Those I seem to to shoot really well, consistently.
