kinda bugging me a little, should I get lower profile rings or is it not too bad?

Is it comfortable to shoot? (Close you eyes, mount the rifle in a standing position and open you eyes. What is the image? Is the scope too, high too high too low, that is the answer to the question IMHO)

Yes it is preferable to get the scope lower to the bore, but it is not the end of the world if it is not. Comfortable, natural height is more important for consistent shooting.

I have had rifles in which I have had jaw welds on and shot well. But never as well as a rifle hat has a perfect cheek weld / scope alignment. Those I seem to to shoot really well, consistently.

From the looks of it, and what I'm used to, it seems too high, and too rearwards.

But, this is from a single angle photo with camera parallax, so YMMV. :)

As stated above, it's all about how it feel and acts FOR YOU.

As the guys said above, if the scope as it sits, is at the right place when you mount the rifle, then that's the correct height for you.

If it is, and the looks still bug you, then get a scope with a bigger objective.

My CZ452 Scout looked funny with a 32mm objective, so I replaced scope with one with 50mm objective. Looks fine to me but some guy said it looke funny.

Thanks for quick replies guys!

if mount it with the cheek resting on the weld I can't see thru the scope properly, have to rase my head just to above the jaw is resting on the weld. I guess I should go lower...

With most hunting rifles you want the rings that will put as little clearance between the barrel and the bell of the scope while still being able to put a piece of paper through the gap. Some rifles you have to worry about the bolt contacting the back of the scope if you get that low. I feel the idea is chasing a co-witness with the iron sights that may or may not be on the rifle depending on model.

What do you use the rifle for? If you are hunting game close up, a lower mounted scope will have a POI closer to the POA than a scope that is mounted high. Of course the difference in the POI is not great between scopes with even a .5" mounting height difference if you're sighted in at 50 yards and the target is at 25 yards.

If you are strictly target shooting and the range is constant, scope height is important only in for how it feels to look through it.

What matters most is comfort not how it looks. If it is comfortable to look through the scope, then it's fine. If it bugs you, get other rings and rest at ease. No one has been drummed off a range or a small game hunt by critics who disapprove of a scope that looked to be mounted high.

For me, yes that scope is mounted too high. However I prefer a more sleek look and like the mild advantage for rimfire with a low scope. Here is my rifle that I mounted a scope too. And had to modify the mount slightly to allow for such low rings.

I keep scopes as low as possible as long as I get good cheek weld and eye alignment. All but one of my rifles are traditional sporter stocks (AR15 is the exception); the stock and your face shape/size dictate scope height. Not looks.

My scopes are all mounted low enough i must cut the scope covers to use them as they dont fit between the bell and barrel. However if it feels comfortable to you who cares if the guy next to you doesnt like it

I use Burris Zee rings on most rimfires, 1" Low fits pretty much everything. On my Savage Mk 2 BRJ, regular Weaver bases and the low Burris rings put the 4-12x40 Prostaff Rimfire so close to the barrel a standard business card doesn't fit between...perfect IMO.

If the OP can't find a set of the low Burris rings I have at least 6 sets on hand, will hook you up with them if required. PM me sir.

As already stated hold the rifle up ready to fire and comfortable wit eyes closed and than open them, when you can automatically and naturally see through scope perfectly that is the right scope height for you, no matter where its sitting on rifle
