From what I have read the Japanese POW camps were even worse.
Pretty sick what mankind will do to each other. Mankind.....kind of an oxymoron.
Odd place to post the thread though.

Yah very sick. since we are free people and free to think and speak - I may suggest looking at the proof videos and arguements that show most of this to be bs.

Don't get emotional get research from both sides and see what your study shows ! Maybe you will say ... yep it's all true !!! Or maybe you will say ... something is very wrong here and we have been mislead big time.

Seriously? I would suggest that the Holocaust has been studied in greater depth than just about anything else in history and no reputable scholar has ever put forward proof that it didn't happen.

I knew an adamant Holocaust denier. He maintained that it was impossible for the Nazis to have murdered that many people. After he died, I learned that he was Latvian and had been part of an execution squad there. His experience was using small arms to do the killing.

He's right in that it would have been impossible to murder that many people without support of the German military/industrial resources - railways, building materials, etc. The SS found out that shooting hundreds of people was hard on the morale of the troops. Too much heavy drinking in order to cope and sleep.

One of the patients I had who was surprisingly a real SS paratrooper wounded near Moscow and finishing his war on the Heights of Seelow had an interesting perspective.... he said to me a great many people died but the bombers were the main killers in the war. They starved the population home soldier and interned people alike. I am not a total holocaust denier but the logistics of numbers don't personally add up to me unless other parties are included. What my patient told me was no army or country would fight to the end for a regime that they thought were murders... in perspective they literally did fight to their last cities. He even explained child soldiers who faced my grandfather were there because it was safer for them than serving in the East or to remain at home because of the bombing... (dark reality eh imagine sending your 14-17yr olds west to avoid the bombs only to have them face the allies).
They didn't film the cities and that people died there of same there of disease and starvation due to the bombing. After being wounded he served the balance of the war in a Luftwaffe antiaircraft unit only to be drafted to lead units of the volkstrum outside of Berlin. This man came into my ER the first time I met him at 99yrs old jumping over the bedrail of the hallway stretcher like a kid jumping a fence... when I was shocked at his physical ability he told.me he was Paratroop and that was nothing.... it was weeks later after seeing him several times and with decreasing health it was when I helped the man change that I found the SS tattoo under his right arm. Before that I though He was just one tough older German solider. He had no reason to lie to me. One very scary tale he told me was when fighting the Russians was that they would send so many men at them that they would literally have to climb on top of the bodies to keep shooting because they could no longer see the enemy..... Total horror. He was maybe 5ft 4 when I saw him but was uncountably the toughest man I ever met. Poland to Berlin. I wish I could have interviewed him in good health. He died of respiratory failure a few months from his 100th year. So much of the story has been forgotten, edited and reworked that I doubt we will ever learn the full reality of what happened.

Other things that often are forgotten are the starvation and elemental exposure of thousands of German soldiers captured by the allies, the thousa d's of Russian soldiers killed by their own side to motivate others to charge to their doom, the rounding up of so called enemies at home by all sides to internment camps in North America, Europe and the far East.. I wonder if just like in the American civil war they blame the south for terror camps like Amityville for prisoners but would that not be the norm for a losing side to lack the resources to supply their needs...

I take no side except that war is horror. Looking back at history with an objective lense is important and in no way antisemitic or disregards any sides effort or suffering. I had family who served in the Canadian army in WW1, WW2 and Korea. One of my grandfather's worst memories from Holland was about him waking up under a jeep next to a dead German when I was a kid. It was when he was sick in the hospital that I heard about him choking thst soldier under that jeep (imagine living with that damn it's a small wonder he drank a case of beer every few days).

Watch all of the videos linked here with an o jective mind a d consider that a bit of all of them have some truth. Here is another to consider
Eisenhower's death camps
And an article a out POWs in Russia http://m.spiegel.de/international/g...ers-recall-their-postwar-ordeal-a-714947.html

I wouldn't put too much stock in the ramblings of an old man, There were only two SS paratroop battalions during the entire war, the 500th and 600th. The first formed was the 500th in 1943 and was used in the failed mission to capture Tito in Yugoslavia. Tito escaped and 800 out of 1,000 SS were killed or wounded by partisans. The survivors only fought as part of a battlegroup afterwards in Lithuania nowhere near Moscow. The 600th was formed and used in the German takeover of Miklos Horthy's Hungary when they learned Horthy had been secretly negotiating surrender to the Soviets. Afterwards two companies of the 600th were attached to Skorzeny's unit for the Ardennes offensive. The 500th SS paras were formed from men who were charged with violating military law and the SS high command had mandated that only 50% of the members could be under punishment, the rest had to be volunteers. In my opinion anyone who "takes no side" in WW2 is either ignorant of the facts or a Nazi/Japanese apologist. My 2 cents.

The fact is that the Nazi "Final Solution" was a state sanctioned genocide done in compliance with the law of the land at the time. That the German population as a whole was ignorant and not directly complicit in the execution of the policy, is a small saving grace. However, I asked my German inlaws if they were aware of the program. Answer - "It was in your best interest NOT to be aware." Train loads of people going to a few select locations and no one ever leaving, the smoke and smell of the crematoria; all clues that something was amiss.

The treatment of the German military post-war was retaliatory in nature for the excesses of the Wehrmacht and SS in occupied Europe.

As for the excesses of the Japanese Imperial Army, they have to be viewed from the brutality of the Samurai Bushido code whereby an enemy is a lesser being, particularly if the enemy surrendered rather than fight to the death. That paralleled the Nazi "Ubermenschen" mentality that regarded anyone else as "Untermenschen".
