Purchased a g17 gen 5 lately
Round count now in the early 3000s
Just shot an ipsc match with it today

My favourite glock of all time so far
No finger grooves, flared magwell, improved accuracy, usable plastic sights, etc...

Got one major pet peeve
No factory parts available in Canada yet

Slide got hot,Front sight sight was bumped and now all deformed.
Need new gen 5 plastic sights, since i can’t find ameriglo sights in canada.
Will also need spare gen 5 recoil spring assembly.

Any canadian retailers, that don’t mind dealing with simple civilians, stocking factory glock stuff?
Specifically in the gen 5.

Thanks for link
That will settle recoil spring, which i will change in another 4000.
They don’t have gen 5 front sight though, if i knew gen 4 specs i could compare
As rear sight is definitely different

Much more space in rear notch
Gen 5 sights are actually usable and accurate
Which can’t be said for all other gen plastic sights

The Front sight melted !!!!
How many rounds did you fired before that happened ?

Glock parts is just one of many sources.
Getting small parts from the US is typically painless. While I'd like to support locals, sometimes they just don't have what you need.

Gen 5 front sight is .200. IIrc, subcompact uses that height. If not just grab a complete set of Hackathorn and be done with it. Thats what i did anyways

That's a good idea and will use this if needed. Thanks, so a gen 4 subcompact sight is probably same as full size gen 5, will research this.

Under the sight, the plastic is oval shaped to keep the front sight square with the slide.
That portion twisted with heat so front sight looks off now.

In that training session I brought 400+ rounds, I took a break when I saw the groupings open up a bit, at that point the slide was burning hot.

Already did contact them a few weeks ago. Few times too.
While I perceived they did not like civilian sales by the slowness of replies, some nice CGNer PMed me last night.
He is a rampart employee and offered to look into it.

The problem with linked sights, these are POA/POI just like image #3.
I want to order this sight, as it uses the same height difference than factory plastics, and right now I am doing fine with them using sight picture #2.

To be honest i'd settle with plastics right now, on top of melting a bit, front sight also banged wood shooting through a port, it's quite ugly right now.
A real miracle I went through my IPSC match yesterday, and didn't get a miss or penalty, even of swingers, drop turners, and far steel poppers. That front sight was funky looking though!

Just another something to add.
I am a real glock fan with this gen 5 so well it performs, in my opinion it literally dwarfs other gens in every department (except finish but who cares for finish?)
Glock disappoint me how, they rush all these gen 5s in and market them for everyone to buy, but offers very little factory parts yet.
Push the guns out but support is lacking, I am sure they will normalize this soon but frustrating in the meantime.
Even the recoil spring gen 5 is hard to find in Canada, by seeing how round count is stacking up quick, i'll need one by august.

I quite like my Gen 5 as well. I ordered a set of Ameriglo Adjustqble sights from Freedom Ventures, they were expensive but I should be able to set them up exactly the way I want to use the sight picture I prefer.

These are not ameriglos but Dawson Precisions
Which are excellent sights

Myself got a brand new set of DPs for gen 5 from freedom ventures (not on site custom ordered from dawson precision), fixed style not adjustable.
But decided I want factory style sights.
Even though I bring this glock to matches, I am not there to win.
I am there simply to test myself with a simple gun, and wish to keep sights non-competition, and keep them factory and/or tactical style.

If and when I want to compete again, I'll ditch the glock and go back to STI.
Right now it's just shoot for fun, and see how far up (locally only) a factory glock can stack up against the CZs and the tanfos

^^Whoops my mistake. DP’s of course. Was posting too fast for my brain.

The Gen 5 works well for me in Production Div. I don’t really see the need to go to a high dollar gun at this point. I got within 2% of making Master at the level 2’s last weekend and took second place both days with a bone stock Gen 5. The only things I did to it was black sharpie the rear sight and put grip tape as in the above pic. The Dawsons I installed after the matches. They are very shootable guns and don’t really give up much to the CZ’s I shot against.

Ah glock..... fifth generation and still not perfection.

Great pistol..... just not.... perfection....

I am surprised they kept plastic sights for gen 5 if they are that fragile.
It's supposed to be a service pistol after all.
The fact that a mere civilian effed them up under 2 months, I wouldn't want these sights if my life depended on it.

For 750$, it's the perfect pistol.
In my opinion, it can be classed among the 1300$ range of pistols.

The company slogan/quote is actually "Perfection in simplicity". And it's just a slogan...

Practically all LE agencies issue pistols with tritium night sights. Glock like most other brands offers a bare bones basic option with their crappy plastic sights(dovetail protectors) as a way of getting more guns in peoples hands and keeping the cost down. If you use the pistol for personal defense then you would be foolish to use non tritium sights and/or plastic sights.
