Finally accumulated all the parts to build a C7A2 and I have a question about CC/Diemaco "green" furniture.

A while back I was able to pick up a green CC buttstock Assembly and pistol grip, but the buttstock was practically brown. I recently got a complete set of green furniture and it is most definitely green.

I've seen some photos of C8s (I think) with the "brown" buttstock and I was just wondering if there was any official CF or CC policy to this brown buttstock.

Some of them are kinda brownish. It's normal - I've been issued a rifle with a brownish buttstock and with an upper and lower that did not at all colour match. It worked, though. No biggie.

Depends which flavour of flat OD Green Krylon was on sale at Cambodian Tire when the furniture went through rebuild.

The only parts that were ever painted (in recent memory) were some skinny C8 handguards when the C8A3 with the green furniture started being issued. It was just a bunch of them, all newer handguards come in the green.

Some older stocks are indeed literally brown, it's just a colour that Colt Canada apparently used in the past in the early stages of the C7A2 mid-life upgrade. All the stocks that we order and recieve have been green for a hell of a long time now but there are still brown stocks in every vault because they have not broken yet so they haven't been replaced.

There were some very light Armalite green stocks without texturing in the past when the C7A2 was being born, some untextured brown stocks, textured brown stocks and then textured green stocks. I've seen all of these on C7A2s in racks at some point in the past.

TL;DR: Brown stocks were actually made and issued in the past.

Cool. Thanks a lot! At least now I have both. Could you use the taxonomy of "brown = early, green = late"?

Nordic Marksman has some of the Brown stocks, while Calgary Shooting Centre has complete green sets of rifle length furniture.

I have photos under a similar thread on the other site.

If you're building a clone, you should be happy they're different shades, lol! Even the upper and lowers wete different shades :)

Correct. The lowers keep getting restamped when a new config' upper is issued. Remember - C7 had a handle and flip iron sights, C7A1 and A2 are flat-top.

The C8 I had was black.
